BF5 crashes to desktop when clicking on multiplayer

BF5 recently started crashing while in the menus. BF5 starts fine, but when looking for a game, it will either crash when selecting multiplayer or when clicking advanced search. Things I have tried:

This is my sons computer, so Im not sure what he did prior to game crashing. The computer was running BF5 just fine.  Might try a system restore as a last resort... :}

I have reinstalled the game twice

I manually updated windows

Downloaded the most current NVIDIA drivers

C:\windows\system32>sfc/scannow   Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Thanks ahead for any help...

  • here are some tips:

    1. There is a possibility that choosing Repair after right clicking the game in Origin could fix this.
    2. Remove the bfv config > gamedrive:\username\documents\battlefield v\settings folder before starting the game (put back later if no help)
    3. virus scan and use adwcleaner then a registry cleaner like ccleaner, also HDD defragment (SSD trimm) for OS and game drive
    4. or driver cleaner procedure
    5. -perform a windows cleanup:  and select remove shader cash
    6.  How to set a factory overclocked graphics card to Nvidia reference clock speeds

    7. windows cleanboot

First of all, thank you for taking the time to help...  🙂

Interesting...  There is no folder under documents.  Im curious, since we reinstalled and he has not been able to successfully join a game, that it has not created the "battlefield V" folder. I checked my other computer and the folder is there.

I tried repairing the game as well...  Still no luck.

Ok, found the folder...  He had a different profile. I dont see a config file. there are 6 of profsave files..

I did a clean boot and it didnt help. I have a bunch of crashdump files.  Not sure anyone can read those?

Remove the entire settings folder?  Thanks again...  🙂

  • I too am having this issue, on a brand new PC that is more than qualified to run BFv. I've tried uninstalling, repairing, removing settings, updating the drivers.

Every time i click Multiplayer the game instantly crashes.

Its allowed me to access the campaign mode and seems to run just fine. The only time it crashes is in the menus when trying to get to matchmaking.

Anyone else encountered and resolved the issue?

  • Same issue here. I have a few copies of the game(steam, Xbox and origin) and not one works. My pc is way over spec for this game so it isn't that. Campaign works fine. All the advice given doesn't work. Called ea and they don't have an answer. Tech support sent me an email stating that my drivers and windows need to be reinstalled/updated etc. Told him I've tried every option under the sun and still no luck. Typical ea. The masters of micro transactions and squeezing ever penny out of you but won't take the time to fix the game you paid for, because the share holders only care about lining their pockets. I've had this issue for over a year an not once has there been an answer to this so don't hold your breath... you 100% are gunna die waiting and ea will just shrug and try to microtransact your funeral. Don't waste your time or money cuz they don't care and won't help.

  • This is on the older side of time, I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with Battlefield V please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.
