I'm having the same issue now too with both BFV and BF1 on my XBOXX and XBOX1. All subscriptions are current, I don't see that I've been blocked, other games work fine. Cleared the Mac, followed all the steps listed, still a no go. I get the "update needed to play online" but when I hit "A" to update nothing happens. Its very frustrating.

Its very frustrating.Go to My Games & Apps>Highlight BFV/BF1 and press start>Manage Game>Clear the saved data. Launch the game.
