Can't use chat in battlefield 5

I Have the same problem and i am also hoping on a quick fix, cause not being able to use the chat is really annoying. specially on a teamwork game.
I'm being blocked cause my name contains the words fubar which is ironic cause its a widely used expression in ww2. (not a big fan of the filter in general )
But i can't just change my name without it loosing its meaning.

Summarize your bug Omfg... Tried sending this 5 times and only shows preview and not a single submit option each time... A website that you can't report bugs in, lmao. No chat log after the update. No callouts like need ammo or anything even with all settings enabled to show chat.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to chat/callout
What happens when the bug occurs? Nothing
What should be happening instead? Something and chatting and callouts.

I would suggest to reset the menus/UI:

Delete the contents of:

C:\Users\(your user name here)\Documents\Battlefield 5\settings

Then run a repair on the game.

Voila!

n.b. You will need to check and change any preffered/saved options again.

Does anyone still have this issue after the patch today?

Yep and im pissed off. This is bs EA wont give me any help. The patch didnt work and Im assuming that it has to do with the  ' - ' in my name.

Really ruins the gameplay for me when you cant communicate with the rest of your team or squad that donthave voip.

Summarize your bug When using the commo-rose to "speak", the chat window does not appear, despite Chat Log being set to "When Active". This makes it impossible to know if someone is asking for ammo, medic, orders, etc. This appears to be a new bug as of the Dec 5th release. Secondarily, when you get upgraded to squad leader, there is no "large text" that appears to confirm your promotion. (It also doesn't appear in the chat log, since the chat log doesn't show.)

Hmm is your in game name the same as forum notice we both have " t3 " wonder if that is an issue?
