Cant use text chat

My name is Casca273 and ive been using the name Casca for 20 years now. I started to play Btf 1942 on the multiplayer demo of wake Island back in 2001 i think it was. I play on a PC but now I suddenly cant use the in game text chat anymore. If I write something nothing turns up on the screen and if someone uses my name in the text chat the name gets scambled like this ***** and I still cant answer them.

Ive just talked to the support that said that my name / the word Casca is not banned or inappropriate in anyway and that this is a tech issue...Maybe a bug or a setting of some kind...well I dont know...it would be nice if someone from EA answered too since I pay for this product and the chat is supposed to work.

Can anyone plz help me with this matter?

    We use to have an ongoing thread on the Battlefield forums that was kept up to date with words, phrases, and usernames that are incorrectly blocked by the BFV chat filter.  EA was aware of this thread and was actively reporting these to Dice in order to get them fixed.  Unfortunately EA shut down the old Battlefield forums a few months ago and I assume that thread has been lost.

    With that said, what you're experiencing is an error with the AI controlled chat filter.  It's extremely buggy in this game, and even blocks the name of the game itself from being said.  "BF5" is blocked if you type it in chat lol.  I can't guarantee this will ever be fixed since support for the game ended in early 2020, but hopefully someone from EA can fix this so you can communicate in the game you've payed for.

    @Casca273

    Thank you for letting us know. We're continually monitoring these forums for unusual cases where the profanity filter needs a closer look. I am usually found on the Madden NFL and NHL forums, we're seeing some examples there we pass along too. If we hear any updates on this we'll be sure to share it with you.

  • I have this problem since April. I've had to change my username just so I chat in game. None of the support people were able to fix it, although we all know that it is caused by the profanity filter and I even know the prohibited word ("mr4d" in my case).

  • @Casca273 I have had the exact same problem long time ago, I was on a two hours live chat with EA support back then, but same outcome, they could not say why and what, only solution was to change my nickname, and I had had mine for +13 years.
    The censoring in BFV is a JOKE!
