Constant Packet Loss for Weeks
I am located in Switzerland and have been playing Battlefield 5 on PS4 since launch. Just over a month ago I noticed that the network performance is always showing a certain amount of packet loss in %.
It only happens when I play on the German servers, where my Latency is usually at 7-9 ms. The amount of packet loss in % fluctuates depending on the time of day, presumably with the amount of other traffic. In the mornings its as low as 0.1% but as the day goes on, it quickly goes to up to 10-25%. Interesting enough, playing on American servers, where my latency is usually 90-100ms, packet loss remains stable at 0.0% at all times in the day.
It doesn’t matter which game type I play; they all get the same packet loss. Only the location of the server makes a difference.
The Netw Vrtn is also usually showing a figure in the red, usually around 24 ms.
I have already reviewed the guide on dealing with connection issues.
I have tried restarting my router, deleting and reinstalling the game. I have opened the ports on my router for the PS4 and for Battlefield 5. I have tried without any port forwarding or refreshing them. I have tried connecting through a mobile hotspot (to check if it is my network hardware). I always use a LAN cable between my router and PS4 but I tried both my 2.5 Ghz and 5 Ghz wireless networks and only the Latency was changed.
None of these tests have made any noticeable impact to the Packet loss % I experience.
I have run several speed tests on my computer throughout the day and packet loss always shows 0.0%. I reinstalled Battlefield 4 and Hardline to see if I would have a similar issue but also saw no packet loss either.
I would just now assume that the issue in on the BF5 server side, but I have friends in Switzerland and around Europe I play with regularly and none of are experiencing same issue that I have.
I don’t know what else I can check to figure this out. Any advice would be really welcome.
Hey there @beefsupreme45 thanks for all the details!
Based on what you wrote it sounds like that your ISP is having issues with the AWS servers in Germany. I would call the ISP and see what they can help you out on this. We are not currently tracking any latency issues with the servers.
