interesting development, the window doesn't usually open for more than 1 or 2 seconds after reaching the point in the screenshot attached.
But, a few moments ago, while unplugging and replugging the ethernet cable that leads to the PC from the wall (and eventually leads to the router in another room), the game window hung open for over 5 seconds before closing in the usual manor while the connection reconfigured itself.
Does disabling Windows Defender Randomware get it working for you?
@EA_Blueberry Windows Defender doesn't let me touch anything, all controlled by McAfee - went into McAfee and turned off everything it let me but it's not made a difference
I see RomeTW.exe under your DxDiag error reporting. From what i see online, that is considered an indication of Malware from a program. Please run virus scans to protect your system and it could also help launch BFV in return.
What type of motherboard do you have? Nahimic could be disguised, can you try this step below to see if it shows up for you?
Press "CTRL+ALT+Delete" at the same time > Task Manager > Startup > find "AWSoundCenterUiLauncher.exe" > right click on it and disable.
Reboot > Test. (Source)
Last DxDiag still shows an older Windows 10 Build and Nvidia driver. Search "Windows Updates" in the desktop search bar to check for pending updates. Nvidia drivers can be downloaded here.
RomeTW.exe would refer to Rome Total War, I'll run a scan but i highly doubt this game is malware. Motherboard is an ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z, No sign of Nahimic in task manager.
Windows definitely updated, the desktop search bar worked prior to updating, now it just opens a blank box no matter what you type or do. Currently updating nvidia via Geforce Experience
Nvidia update didn't change anything, the windows search bar has returned mysteriously overnight though
Do you have Microsoft Game Pass on your PC?
Do you have game mode disabled?
Not sure what the game pass is, there's the game bar though - how do i go about disabling it?
Hasn't made any difference seemingly, unfortunutely
How many Origin friends do you have? There's some players over on the Apex Legends boards that have been able to fix crashes to desktop when they removed friends from their Origin client. I don't like asking players to remove their friends, especially if they have a lot they play with and adding them back can be tedious work. If it doesn't work out that isn't a great experience either...but if you don't mind removing them this can help us identify a potential connected issue related to the friends list.

it was less than 10, deleting them seems not to have helped either @EA_Blueberry
Are you able to launch the game under a different Windows user account? (Make sure the user name doesn't have any non-English characters, symbols, or numbers in it)
I attempted this last month, didn't make any difference. I'll give it a 2nd shot though
Hi
I had the same issue, in my case, I was able to use alt+tab to refresh "screens" in-game and go to settings of display and change it to "window" version.
The game stopped to recognise my iiyama, in window mode, I was able to use game normally, then I go back to display settings switch it back to fullscreen but this time game detected my Fullscreen display and I was able to set all other settings like refresh rate etc. Since then it is working, I need to try it also with Apex
I don't think you understand my issue - i can't get into the game, let alone the settings menu @x42nax
Do you remember if DXR (Ray Tracing) was enabled in the game ?
This could be the issue...
A lot of people experienced crash to desktop issues with DXR enabled...
very unlikely, had a lot of settings as low as i could on this machine
Have you tried today's patch if the same issue is occurring? @TheDarkCenturion
/Atic
Unfortunutely no change @EA_Atic , even after reinstalling onto a USB drive to see if it's a possible HDD problem.
Just installed Battlefield 1 to test, it's running fine so it's definitely a Battlefield V thing
Noticed something new, Battlefield 1's menu showing the other games.
Battlefield V
Battlefield 1
Battlefield 4
Battlefield Hardline
I own all of these games, the menus under Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4 give the option to search for multiplayer games. Battlefield Hardline says I muse use Battlelog, meanwhile Battlefield 5 gives me the option to Purchase Game or Watch Trailer.... Upon clicking Purchase Game, it takes me to the Store tab, which confirms I own the game, but why tell me to purchase the game if i already own it, and not just show me a list of multiplayer games to join?
Can you try right-clicking on Origin and run it as administrator, then go to the Battlefield V folder on your PC and right-click on the BFV.exe file to run that as administrator to launch the game?
I've just installed the new nvidia driver, then run origin and bfv.exe as instructed but still nothing new happening @EA_Blueberry
Have you tried running CCleaner to repair files on your PC?

yea tried this during the first week of the issue @EA_Blueberry
just reinstalled the game for the first time since the last update and it's suddenly come to life and booted into the main menu of the game - no changes have been made so i'm not sure what could have tempted it into working
