I have been experiencing crashes in Battlefield V since it launched for Premier customers. The crashes always happen in the same way: during a game everything just freezes for 3-6 seconds and I land back to my desktop without any error message. Sometimes it takes two games to crash and sometimes it crashes after 10 to 15 minutes.
I have taken the following steps:
1. Uninstalled Nvidia drivers with DDU and reinstalled them without Geforce Experience.
2. I backrolled to the previous version but did not have any effect.
3. I have tried the following drivers: 416.34/81/94 and the problem persists with all of them.
4. I have reinstalled Battlefield V and repaired it multiple times.
5. I have tried to stress my pc in other games but Battlefield V is the only one where it crashes.
6. I have closely monitored temperature and usages rates of my mem, gpu and cpu.
7. Tried changing between DX11 and 12 = crashing continues.
I did not experience these problems during Battlefield V Beta.
Attached you can find dxdiag.txt and two .txt reports from Windows Eventviewer. These reports are the only ones I have been able to find.
Thank you in advance!

Using Windows 10 Oct Update and latest NVIDIA driver. Had to disable DX12\DXR in PROFSAVE_profile to recover game.

Try to repair install the game, also while in main menu graphics settings, enable dx12
- Anonymous7 years ago
Same here. The game crashes at startup when i enable dx12 setting. Whats the problem?
- Anonymous7 years ago
I have same problem. I had this problem also in BF1 with dx11 and dx12. its crash randomly to desktop and no error messages. I have no lag at all in game then suddently its crash. Sometimes it crash when in spawnmenu. its very random sometimes i play 2 hours without crash sometimes 10 minutes. Its exactly same problem that in BF1 and BFV BETA. I DONT HAVE CRASHES IN ANY OTHER GAMES, how this is possible?. report says the same than this post.I have newest drivers 18.11.2 Im starting really to get angry because of this. ive tryed clean drivers install. BFV repair. deleting bfv document. In BF1 it sometimes said DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED but manytimes like BFV go to deskop and no messages and no freeze or anything lag before that.

BF1 was not a DX12 enabled game. BFV is supposed to be a DX12 enabled game. But, in reality it isn't. Attempting to make use of the better UI that DX12 provides will crash the game repeatedly. But, then again....the game crashes repeatedly anyway. No matter what settings are employed. I have tried just about everything to get this game to stop crashing to the desktop during a game. I have a AMD based system. With a Radeon Vega 64 GPU. A liquid cooled Ryzen 1700. 32GB ram. When the game plays, it plays gorgeously. And flows pretty well (if the server I'm on isn't lagging or my Inet connection isn't dropping too many packets). I am running graphics quality at "high" now instead of "ultra". Have FFR turned off. As well as other tweaks. After this last update though, the crashing has become more frequent. But, it's behavior has changed a bit. It can still freeze and then dump you back to the desktop. But, now it will also just go blank and dump you to the desktop. I have yet to find an answer in these forums that can fix the issue. You might alleviate it for awhile. But, like a malignant cancer, it comes back. When is EA going to investigate this?
BF5 crashes every time I play. Usually, after 5-10 minutes of gameplay, the game crashes with almost always no error report. I did once get DirectX error, but it said that id either removed my card or the driver stopped functioning. I've tried redownloading the entire game, redownloading visual studio, edited the windows registry, uninstalled and reinstalled all my graphics drivers, and turn off the overclock I had on my GPU. So far nothing has worked. I have an 8700k and a 1070 TI so my specs are not the issue. I've talked to EA support but nothing they recommended helped. Anyone else have this problem?
- 7 years agoI have also had the same problem! Not quite sure where to start! Never had this issue with BF1 (occasionally the audio used to cut out but nothing too serious).
- Anonymous7 years ago
The same here, had some problems with destiney and wow as well, where the game was stuttering some times. Was thinking because of some Maleware problem? Annyway i reinstalled my pc with a legit Windows 10 pro and a legit kaspersky security 2019, clean drivers from NVidea and my mainboard. Resetted the bios by replacing the battery, picked up my card from the mainboard and put it back in, made the PC dustfree.
It helped, the stottering does not happen in Battlefield 5 but like 10 minuts a go i was playing domination and my game just shut down. Got no error nothing. It was the first one tho, never had it in BF1 either. Got a GTX 1080, Ryzen 1600, 16GB 2933Mhz ram and a Corsair RM550x PSU . If you read the web you see a lot of problem with the 10xx cards tho.
Having the same exact issue. Just crashes without warning when playing online. Never happened before the latest update so maybe something has happened there? Not enjoying this game at all now because of this.
Same problem here, I fixed it by removing the overclock on my GPU (GTX 1080), and my overclock was stable, I played over 100hrs of BF1 with my OC settings. Also, my card is not overheating. Please DICE fix this
- 7 years ago
Same issue. Hardware is stable,, turned off all OCs - Nothing was changed (no new Hardware, no new Software). I played to lvl 50 Prior to the patch with 0 Problems. Suddenly the game crashes to Desktop, error 0xc0000005
This is Happening since last patch. I reinstalled the machine, Nothing changes.
Sorry....but pleaseā¦.can you guys there finally stop screwing stuff up with Patches? I mean, I am starting to get sick of all the Problems EAs games give me.

When i finish Nordlys and the cinematic video with the submarine ends it goes back to desktop.
Any ideas why?

Hi @shak3800
Try playing in Windowed-mode to see if that fixes this for you. If not, try lowering the resolution from your in-game settings to see if that will get you to the end of this war story.

Mine does the same thing but for Xbox One
- 6 years ago
My quest started because the game stuttered with an EVGA 1060 3gb card, I upgraded to a Nvidia 2080 ti FE to take advantage of RTX and the troubles didn't go away. Hated getting killed during the brief pause when a stutter occurred. I had 16g of RAM and read that upgrading to 32g of RAM would solve it so that's what I went with. Sadly, after upgrading I had continual crashes to desktop and BSODs. Many, many. Games were unplayable (FC5, BF1, BF4, BFV). I spent countless days trying to figure things out. I tried everything: Windows reinstall, BF reinstall, Origin reinstall, running Origin as admin, memory leak software (memory dumps), driver wipes and re-installs, minimal driver installs, updating all drivers, DX12 off, Future Frame Rendering off/on, adjusting virtual memory, g-sync on/off, v-sync on/off, frame rate cap on/off, goofing with settings, increasing memory voltage from 1.35 to 1.4. Patting tummy, rubbing head and twirling. Then I went into bios and reduced DRAM frequency from 3200 to 2932 (there abouts) and hallelujahs. This was an easy setting to adjust on my MSI X370 MB.
Games have been buttery smooth ever since. I am now running all graphics on ultra setting and don't have any stuttering, freezes, crashes to desktop or BSOD. Seamless RTX in ultra is freakin beautiful at 1440 btw. I can't find words to tell you how satisfying it has been to find a fix. While the game should have not have had these issues, I don't think it is the game alone - a simple tweek to your memory settings may resolve your issues based on my limited data. Good luck trouble shooting. Here are my specs:

This has happened to me many times. It will freeze and you will leave the game when the screen goes black. Try closing the application and restarting your device as this has worked for my and other players. However I hope it is patched in an update yet to come.
- 6 years agoDoes clearing the cache fix it for anyone else?
No, not for me ... itĀ“s like i crash in menu all the time now ?!?!?!?
This happened before, but I could at least play for a number of minutes before it crashed. Now, before even the main menu loads it will crash. And by that I mean that all I will see is the little logo loading in the top right then it crashes. Before all I had to do was install a new driver and it was fine but now this is after I just updated my drivers. And I have tried everything else. I just want to play again.
The DxDiag is attached if interested.

Hello @Panda_Franchise
You can try this solution :
- Windows - Start - Configuration - Updates and Security
- Windows Update
- Update History
- Uninstall Updates
- Uninstall KB4480116
- Reboot.
It should solve the problem:eahigh_file:
After uninstalling said update game has been stable? I think it could be the culprit of these constant crashes that started out of nowhere with me as well. I mean... it's the only thing that has changed in system since crashing started. After january patch game was still stable and the day after (after this windows update) it's been crashing pretty much constantly without error message. The usual delete everything that says origin I've done, also repaired the game and all that jazz without any luck.
I was also having this problem and tried out almost everything that has been suggested with no success.
I then wondered if the problem could be related to dx12 and wanted to try dx11. Since i couldn't get into the game to change it i did it in the profile file, Documents/ Battlefield V/ settings/ PROFSAVE_Profile, open with notepad, locate "GstRender.Dx12Enabled 1" and change it to 0.
The game then started fine and i have been playing without any crash.
I prefer dx12 to dx11 in this game because it is smoother for me, dx11 has some annoying microstutter, so i hope DICE or Microsoft can fix this issue.

I have had this game crash on me and I haven't been able to enjoy it since I downloaded it yesterday. Sometimes it crashes a few minutes into multiplayer, sometimes right after I launch it. Sometimes I get a BSOD (have gotten 3 different errors with this) and sometimes just a crash to desktop. I have tried updating all of my drivers and I ran a memtest and checkdisk and they came back fine. CS:GO and Overwatch run fine for me.

I'm seeing an increase in game crashes after the 4.2 update.
Symptoms:
Games freezes for about 2-3 seconds then the games just closes.
No error messages or anything.
So far I've had 2 crashes within 1-1,5 hours of playing.
I very rarely see any crashes, maybe once every two months.
Weather is hot today but temps are fine (GPU 65c and CPU 63c at max).
System info attached.
Thanks,
Steff

Hi, almost same issues. Game dropped me once before the update, but after I am not able to start the game. During the log on screen where the logo in upper right corner goes round it stops for 2 sec then crashes out with no further error message.
thanks

Also seeing a lot of connection reliability issues with the servers. Perhaps renting AWS isnt the answer after all? This patch hasnt done a single thing to improve issues. Micro stuttering is still there, inviso-soldiers still there. Are Dice even trying?
So I did some digging around and it seems like I might have fixed my crashes.
First I updated my Nvidia drivers (was only one release behind) and Windows, but disabling "Origin ingame" seems to have fixed it for me - that also fixed crashes back in BF4 early days.
I'll keep this topic open until tomorrow and then close it, if it's fixed.

Glad to hear you were able to figure it out, noticed the driver was outdated from the DxDiag as well.
Keep us updated so we can mark it as solved, have fun!
