I think as long as it doesn't specifically say PvP (and anything related to objective areas), you're able to complete those assignments in Combined Arms to make it easier.
I remember a few assignments being bugged or being worded poorly on PlayStation, perhaps you just got lucky with those?
I'm assuming the ones with lower kill requirements are actually asking you to get everything in a single life.
I tend to steer clear of the Jungle Carbine but I think I remember those kills needing to be at a certain distance away, if not in a single life
