Hello Battlefield V: Firestorm players!
As you know, we released Battlefield V: Firestorm on Monday, March 25th, 2019. Since then we’ve been listening to feedback from our players around the globe.
One of the key points we’ve focused on is the matchmaking in specific regions – particularly Brazil, Australia/Oceania, and South Africa.
Matchmaking in Battlefield V: Firestorm requires a certain amount of players to be connecting at the same time to initiate a server. Unfortunately, in some regions with lower player populations, this increases matchmaking time or forces players to connect to pingsites that are more populated.
We are continuing to look at options to improve this situation without having players connect to empty servers, and we’re always listening to your feedback. We’ll keep you posted on any updates or changes as we identify and roll out more solutions.

Couldn't an option be added where all us Aussies opt to wait that bit longer for a local region server? Because all the squad groups I've been getting take the extra time rejoining/remaking to get a local/lower ping anyway...
I complete agree, if it really means waiting a bit longer to get a ping under 200, I'm in. Thanks for the update in any case. Looking forward to being able to play at a reasonable ping.
Will you though? See us on the battlefield? You’ll lose most of the Oceania server before you fix it. Firestorm has been out for a week and aus players haven’t been able to play. I paid $100 worth of hard earned cash for a BF game that was going to have BR. I loved BF games. If you’re going to sell a game in a country you should at least be able to support it. This may be coming off harsh but it’s heart breaking loading into a game with 200 ping multiple days in a row.
The First day firestorm was out it was fine. have that many ozzies really stopped playing already causing low population lobbys? Feels like they have wiped the Oceania servers already..If im lucky to even find a lobby its now always over 180+ ping 😭. Hopefully its sorted asap otherwise back to blackout..
Please feed the Oceania FS server hamsters kind sir's and madam's. Your loyal antipodean player base is getting restless!

Back to playing other first person shooters, COD4 Remastered was free on PSN last month. A real shame that a free title brings more joy than a multi-million dollar project created by the highest earning developers.i'm not even allowed to play firestorm, apparently i didn't spend enough money with dice to unlock it. wasted over 5 hours trying to give dice the benefit of the doubt and i feel so scammed right now. where do i even go to get this fixed?? surely the game is broken, it should NOT take 6 hours to get 24 seconds of play time in, absolutely disgusting, i hope you people at dice are all ashamed of what you have done
- Australian and South American #Firestorm servers adjusted. some settings for matchmaking in your regions so you should be more able to matchmake in your region with better ping.
Seems like a region lock. Matching with AU/NZ sqaud mates, then long wait times. But doesn't matchmake out of region.

What is the point of putting us in different regions if it’s unplayable. So far I’ve had 2 games in my region and it played well, but without duos as an option me and my mate got destroyed by full squads. I’ve tried to play solo and every game is 200+ ping as soon as I see the high ping now I quit and play something else. I rallied up a full squad to play last night and after couple games of high ping we all decided to go back to PUBG. I suggest you remove other regions as an option because no one will play the game in its current state which will only exacerbate the issue.
- Thats interesting since PUBG is basically in the exact same situation, no-one in OCE is getting Aus servers on PUBG, it's permanently thrown us under the bus in the Asia matchmaking pool. Two great games and now we can't play either without facing a massive disadvantage on upwards of 200 ping ☹️ why is it OCE that always gets screwed over
What I don't understand is everything was working fine and now my ping is 300.
Im playing in the same server with 3 ozzy mates and their ping is fine and mine is screwed

I'm one of his not ozzy mates but Kiwi mate that lives in ozzy. Fix this problem or I will and I'm sure alot of people will never play this game again..which is sad because i was enjoying this game before.. i started today getting bad ping of 250 which makes this game impossible to play i have 110mb download and 38mb upload what's is the problem ea?
Hi, my mates and I have been looking forward to this for a long time and we are getting the same issue,
I am a long time battlefield supporter, to say I've been excited about a battlefield battle royale for a long time would be an understatement.
My issue is this, I play on Xbox and am from Australia, the first couple of days of firestorm were great but now I am getting 180/200+ ping servers most games (obviously out of my region) this makes the game unplayable as the hit reg and Desync is beyond frustrating (I have clips if you want to see),
What are you going to do to fill the player base as I feel they will give up on this very quickly despite the fact you've created the best BR experience? My suggestion would be to give firestorm away for free and go for micro transactions for revenue like fortnite and apex do, all existing players might get the first season for free as a thank you for buying the game,
I will not give up on battlefield but I can't play firestorm with 200+ pingHow come standard multiplayer does a fine job of server balance. I’d rather wait for a lobby to fill than join a 200+ ping lobby as canon fodder.
Are there any estimates when this issue might be fixed or how long it might take to address?
Sadly EA know about this type off issue yet continue to sell a service that can not be met with your failed game matching mechanisms. SWBF1 and SWBF2 all had the same problematic game matching system.
You can not expect people to pay for a game and then wait to play for over 30 minutes. I have tried to join a game 10 times in a row and each time am told "Game Matching failed".
There is a simple fix. Have a lobby where people can see that others are waiting. Initiating a game only when you have a certain number of players waiting in a small interval is a failure.
Once people experience the failed matching mechanism a few times they are unlikely to come back, and they are also unlikely to purchase another title with the same flawed system.
You are forcing gamers away from EA.

ive been trying to get a game of Firestorm for weeks now! I think these guys that get bumped to overseas servers are lucky and I'm actually jealous! I have always just got matching failed. The disappointing thing is I love the mode. Love yer idea and wish they would just take the time to read all this and put some of these ideas into action cause its unplayable for me atm... only cause I cant even a game!!

I would be happy to just join an empty server and wait for it to fill, being put in other regions makes the latency too high and literally unplayable. I desperately waited for firestorm and expected it at launch last year. When I have a good server it’s the best BR out but sadly it’s very rare and I have moved onto other games please fix this ASAP. Nobody cares about updates and new content/fixes if the servers are working consistently with low latency.
