On which server did this happen? All
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Constantly
Summarize your bug I made an ACTUAL bug/issues list. In just 2 days...
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play the game.
What happens when the bug occurs? Game breaks.
What should be happening instead? DICE devs should be fixing the game instead

I made this thread on reddit before the January patch. Since then 3 new MAJOR bugs introduced in the game.

1. The damage indicator is way off and exaggerating the direction. I made a video about this here:
https://youtu.be/-vED5VZh3U0

2. you cant see how much time you have left to revive a person (the Circle on the Z icon is always full.

3. The in-game menu got even worse (could imagine this is possible) now you cant see the skins (weapon or clothing) when you apply them. Its just the selection options on the left with nothing showing on the right.

Here is the original thread. 53 bugs from which only 4 got actually fixed and a few others kinda addressed but not 100% there.

I saw the official “known issues” thread by DICE and I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. No wonder the game is so broken if THESE are the official known issues! More than half of them are about company coin, skins, unlocks etc. (they have to get ready for those microtransactions, right?) and the rest are generic/crash related. After reading the whole post (last updated Dec 14) I had one question: Have they actually played the game? Or is this some PR thing just to tell us “we are listening, we even have a reddit post to report bugs” The comments underneath are not that helpful either, mostly people hating.
So, I grabbed a pen and 2 pieces of A4 paper and I started writing down the issues I experience while I was playing. All 4 sides were filled in 2 days, playing for about 5 hours total ONLY! I noted 53 issues totally. Separated them in categories: 1. General/Serious, 2. UI/Communication, 3. Aesthetic/Visual, 4. Gameplay/Spawning/Balance/Quality of Life. At the end I included my personal suggestions, feel free to skip those, I know not everyone will agree. I am sure I would find even more if I kept tracking, but the list was very long already in just 2 days. In fact, at the end, looking at my notes I thought “why am I still playing this?”:
General/Serious Bugs:
· Bodies “wiggle” after death, which apart from being unrealistic, is confusing and distracting (making you think they are alive) FIXED!
· Bodies disappear inside objects, doors, walls etc making them un-revivable.
· Player Visibility. Especially on snow maps. Seems to be a well-known issue.
· Vaulting. Legacy bug on Battlefield titles. It got better, but it’s certainly not fixed. It appears that in order to vault something, you need to face it directly, be as close as possible AND move forward at the same time to start the vaulting animation. It should be more flexible, starting the vaulting even when not touching the object, so you won’t have to spam the jump button until it actually activates. Also, there are many places that vaulting never works, even if objects appear “vaultable”. FIXED!
· Getting stuck in geometry (small rocks/objects/ground) FIXED?
· Netcode. Battle(non)sense made a video analyzing and proving what we all are experiencing: The netcode is worse than Battlefield 1. Damage stacking (TTD), dying behind corners etc. This is a very serious issue, netcode should be improving not becoming worse (or at least stay the same).
· Enemy footsteps loudness. Even when its quiet, you can barely hear them and distinguish them from friendly footsteps. Just make them like on Battlefield 1. FIXED
· Fortifications are clunky overall. You can build them from far, behind walls, sometimes building won’t even start or will stop unexpectedly.
· Getting stuck indefinitely on loading screen. DICE said they are aware of this and it will be fixed. FIXED?
· Screen goes completely black when passing by some places (2?) in Devastation map. 1 is for sure between point D and E, under the broken building, I haven’t taken note of the other(s).
· Bullets hitting invisible walls/obstacles and even …tree leaves.
· Max rank needs to be increased. Literally half the people on any server are rank 50 at this point. You level up way too fast. The level cap, at the end of the game’s life, should represent about 1000 hours, to distinguish players who have truly invested in the game and people were hitting LVL50 at 10-20 hours.
· Player models have delay updating where they seem to be facing/aiming. Often times I start getting damage from players who appear to be looking in another direction, and they seem to turn in my direction with a huge delay. Might be a netcode issue, not sure.
· Broken towed vehicles physics. Jumping, stucking, “helicoptering” etc.
· Transport (only?) vehicles disappearing while driving them.
· Custom Servers and map vote system. More of a feature, but it really feels like a bug when you cut essential features from past titles.
UI/Communication Issues:
· V-Rocket menu sometimes is broken (won’t activate, or appears with most part of the screen being black) it seems to be associated with taking damage or being suppressed while trying to activate it, but can’t say for sure.
· Inaccurate Health/Ammo Pack icons when in hand (when resupplied with heath you are holding ammo pack and vice versa)
· Game menu. Where to even begin... Every youtuber made a complain video about the menu. It really needs to be redesigned from 0, but let’s not kid ourselves, that’s not going to happen at this point. Being able to buy specializations during games is a must addition though.
· You should be able to switch teams. This wouldn’t be necessary if I didn’t join servers which are 50 against 30 and I am still being put in the team with the 50 players. Of course, rules forbidding team switching should be present (like in bf1)
· Why the game assumes I have EXACTLY 4 friends that I play with and I want to squad up with them only? I play with 1 friend most of the time and we struggle to find a squad. First, we need to join as a squad together and then switch to another, so we can play with others. ANY player should be able to invite in their squad (not just the leader) and when you join a server with a friend, it should just put you in a squad with 1-2 other players automatically. If people don’t want others joining their squad, they have the option to lock it.
· Squad Kill Assists DON’T count as kills, even when they are supposed to. Maybe this was intentional, but I can’t think of a reason to do so.
· Damage direction indicator is often inaccurate, showing wrong direction. Battle(non)sense demonstrated that in his video and I have noticed it myself many times.EVEN WORSE NOW!
· Bipod. I wish it would stay broken to “balance” camping players but the truth is they are not trustworthy right now.
· Friendly/Enemy AP/AT Mines distinction. Should I shoot it or not?
· Grenade icon visibility. Barely visible in most places, practically invisible on snow. 90% of the times I die from a grenade is because I didn’t even know it was there.
· Getting random resupply/fortification points even when I am just running and playing with a class that can’t even resupply the whole round.
· Inconsistent fire damage. This is carried from bf1 unfortunately. Why player uniforms act like they have been soaked on gasoline? You can light up even from small fires and take serious damage. If you trample (with boots) a fire IRL, you will just put it out, you won’t become a torch.
When you catch fire (especially from incendiary grenades) the red damage indicator should appear (in addition to the flames) to inform you that you are dying. The attrition system makes it even worse because your health won’t regenerate after taking unexpected fire damage. You need to be able to tell (by the color?) which fire is safe and which is not.
· Show health icon when you need to be resupplied a health pack and/or even when you have lost just 10hp. Show ammo icon, even when you reloaded once. In my experience, most of the times I don’t get ammo/health is because I have to request it to inform teammates I want it, not because they are not willing to give one.
· All maps need indestructible walls/buildings/fences etc and I am glad they are there (we don’t want a bad company 2 situation where whole map gets flat). However, you should be able to tell what you can destroy and what you cannot. Distinguish the indestructible elements with a specific color/pattern/material. With destruction being done in stages in BFV, you need to know when you can keep destroying and when you are just wasting rockets because you reached an indestructible object.
· Deploy screen incorrect error messages like “The spawn point is not available” or “the class that you selected violates server rules”
· Platoons are nowhere to be found in game or on web. I had to join a platoon from Bf1. If you only own bfv there is simply no option for platoons.
· NON-Faction specific loadouts. Since all factions have the same weapons, why differentiate them? The default loadout, on every new round, should be the last one used period.
· Sometimes health bar doesn’t fill, even when you got healed. Your health is actually full, but it shows less, so just a UI issue.
· Sometimes, all(?) squad-mates calling reinforcements (instead of just the leader) I can hear my own player calling the reinforcements, even though I am not the leader.
· Font Visibility in the UI is horrible. Even if you set the “Overlay Shadow Strength” to 100, it’s still hard to read, especially on snow maps. Go back to BF1 or 4 and you will feel the difference right away.
Aesthetic/Visual Issues:
· “Décor” broken tanks. Every map has WAY too many (to memorize) broken tanks/vehicles as “decoration”. This means when an enemy tank is not moving, you can’t tell if its décor or real. Spotting is not reliable on tanks when they are far or behind cover. Prime example of this problem is the bridge on Twisted Steel. Maybe replace them with rumble or airplanes instead of tanks?
· Trees “wobbling”. Happens randomly(?) or when explosions nearby
· Weapon parts disappearing.
· Vehicle tracks on vegetation. Either make them look realistic or disable them.
· Getting stuck on a loop of health resupply animation (haven’t noticed it on ammo)
· Draw distance seems way too low. Even with mesh setting on Ultra, I can see plantation appearing right in front of me.
· AT Mines appearing to be midair. I don’t know if this is visual only, but you can’t shoot them when they are midair.
Gameplay/Spawning/Balance/Q.o.F. Issues:
· Camping meta: Tied with visibility issues and MMG guns. There is no way around it, Battlefield 5 incentivizes camping. No spotting, no visibility and here are some powerful machine guns, you can only ADS when prone or camping a ledge, because the situation isn't bad enough. Half my deaths are from prone players I couldn’t even see because they were blending in the environment. And 80% of those prone players were using MMGs
· Frag Rifle. Way too powerful, large radius, a lot of damage, being able to kill 3-4 players with one shot. Needs a reduction on both or at least make it have a lot drop-off, like the PIAT, to add some skill to it.
· Death experience. You need to be able to see who killed you and from where (not always visible) and preferably the damage history (taken from other players). Seeing yourself crying on the floor is not very helpful. Also bring back the options from Battlefield 1. Why I have to press a button to wait longer to be revived? It doesn’t need 3 “stages” only 2. The default one being “I am waiting for a revive” for the maximum time available, without pressing any button and the other option is to hold a button to skip revive. Time to redeploy should be visible at this screen to know when it makes sense to skip revive. Its even worse now IMO. Just wasting more time being dead showing who killed you (sometimes) Patch notes say "giving you more information about who killed you and how" where exactly is that info?
· Support players shouldn’t pick ammo from dead enemies. They can resupply themselves and save dropped ammo for their teammates.
· Forcing game modes with assignments directly and indirectly:
Mastery of weapons requiring kills in objective areas is just forcing you to play on breakaway. I never had a round in conquest I even came close to 20 kills with hip fire on objective areas… If you want people to play different game modes make them fun/balanced so players will actually WANT to play them, don’t try to force them.
· Medic weapons need to be better balanced (between them). The Suomi and Thomson are in a good place, but the slow firing ones need to do more damage in distance and/or have less recoil/more accuracy. We don’t want a BF4 situation where medics have the best weapons and no one picks any other class. Medics should also have the DMRs as an alternative on conquest maps, where most of the engagements are medium/long range. All latest battlefield games had “universal” weapons that all classes could use and DMRs are perfect for this. SMGs are better now but medic needs alternatives for Conquest maps.
· Resupply Animations shouldn’t interrupt important actions: Shooting, Reloading, ADS. I know it’s not “realistic” but I have died many times because someone decided to resupply me and I stopped shooting, or because I panic and I pushed the heal button early. Animations look good on trailers etc but they shouldn’t interrupt the gameplay.
· This happened only once to me but it still did! Round on Twisted Steel started by spawning on D and contesting it with enemies. Still happening I confirmed it.
· The Top Gunner seat is the same as hitting the redeploy button. Being able to duck does not solve anything, you rarely have time to do it and you still have to come out at some point and face your destiny. The top gun needs to have actual cover on the sides/behind. Also, it shouldn’t be the default spawn seat on vehicles (unless it gets cover). If there is only the top gunner seat available, I would rather spawn behind the vehicle and have a chance to survive.
· More than a feature than an issue: you should be able to pickup a kit not just weapons. Different key for each action: E to pickup weapon, F to pickup kit. Its always been like that and It offered variety to the gameplay, I don’t know why they changed it on BFV.
My Personal Ideas/Suggestions
· If you are camping with a bipoded MMG for more than 10 seconds you should be spotted every 3-5 seconds (not fully spotted, just the icon which appears when you are being suppressed)
· Ammo/Health resupply stations should be pre-built and indestructible. Not everyone plays with friends (every time) and even when you do its not guaranteed you can always stick together or play specific classes. Solo players need standard locations where you KNOW you will find health/ammo without having to build/rebuild it. Its not fun building those boxes, it leaves you exposed and its just busy work. Friends can still enjoy playing together and resupplying each other and solo players can have an alternative they can rely on.
· There should be an ammo box on the bridge of Twisted Steel. Maybe this was done intentionally, but it’s really frustrating running out of ammo on the bridge. It needs to be between the 2 points.
· Stacking AT/AP mines. A mine (AP or AT) should not be a 1 hit kill. Just 80 damage. The distance you are allowed to place AP mines should be a lot bigger or make the combined damage 80. If you step on one you will have a chance to heal and be careful not to step on the other. If you decide to keep running like crazy you deserve to die.
· Bombers are still too powerful and ruining games especially on Fjell and Twisted Steel.
· Fires should be cosmetic only, unless they MUST do damage for map design reasons, in which case the color of the fire should be different (so you know it will hurt you) There are literally more than 100 places with fires in 9 maps you can’t expect players to learn which of them are safe or not.
· Chat filter needs to go. This is a mature game aimed at adults (supposedly) stop trying to make the game kid friendly and Politically Correct, I need to know what others think about my sexual orientation and what EXACTLY they want to do to my mom.
· The AA tank is too powerful against infantry. On every. Battlefield. Ever.
· You should start the round with full ammo. Everyone just picks up from the base and the support players don’t deserve getting points just for spamming resupply on the start of the round.
· Scout gadgets need a buff. The scope should auto spot and the flare radius should be larger. Not BF1 size, something in between. FIXED!
· Ability to choose any scope for variety.
· “Getting out” from vehicles animations. I can’t spawn on airplanes and jump out in time (before going out of bounds) I get killed because it takes too long to bail from tanks, I get killed because I am an easy target when I am exiting vehicles and I can’t react. Do it like in bf1: Keep “getting in” vehicles animation to make it look pretty/realistic, but “getting out” animations cause a lot of frustration.
· ADS times are TOO long on all weapons. Go back to bf1 or bf4 and you WILL feel the difference. Even when you upgrade the ADS times on specializations its still too slow. IMO the default time should be the upgraded one, and the upgraded should be on par with past Bf games (almost instant).
· Why use the mouse buttons when dying instead of the space bar like in BF1? I like to use my phone when I am dead not have my hands stuck on the mouse (those memes won’t see themselves you know)

The only thing I enjoy in this patch is the vaulting being finally addressed on battlefield. It really feels solid now. Game is still a mess, DICE needs to get their priorities straight. The game DESPERATELY needs new maps and higher rank. Literally almost everyone at anytime on any server is rank 50 now.

  • Regarding the grenade icon visibility - are you aware there's a setting for the icon's opacity and zoomed icon opacity? Zoom opacity defaults to 10% IIRC.

They said they patched not being able to reload while reviving yet I can still do it.

I still get the half black box when calling in things.

there is no option for grenade indicator visibility. If you are talking about the "overlay shadow strength" it's about the fonts and the UI.I have it at 100% since it was introduced and fonts are still not as clear as BF1 and the grenade indicator is practically invisible.

Going back to bf1 or bf4 will make you feel the downgrade on the UI.

Sorry to be "that guy" but the rules for posting bug reports in this forum state:

If you find multiple bugs, create a separate thread for each one. While this may seem tedious, It helps us to get to the point of the bugs making a more effective experience for us and you.

  • Same here I got shot in the back, damage indicator appears 180 degrees in the front. Unacceptable.

  • An update about these issues as of the patch in April 30:

    1. The damage indicator is way off and exaggerating the direction. I made a video about this here:
https://youtu.be/-vED5VZh3U0 STILL BROKEN!!!! It looks like this will stay forever and its inconsistent with any other fps or previous battlefield titles.

    2. you cant see how much time you have left to revive a person (the Circle on the Z icon is always full. Broken AGAIN on the latest patch, circles appear full constantly.

    3. The in-game menu got even worse (could imagine this is possible) now you cant see the skins (weapon or clothing) when you apply them. Its just the selection options on the left with nothing showing on the right. Kinda fixed, menu is still horrible.

    Bugs:

    · Bodies “wiggle” after death, which apart from being unrealistic, is confusing and distracting (making you think they are alive) Was fixed for sometimes but it happens rarely.
    · Bodies disappear inside objects, doors, walls etc making them un-revivable. Happens Rarely around boxes.
    · Player Visibility. Especially on snow maps. Seems to be a well-known issue. Very small improvements, still bad.
    · Vaulting. Legacy bug on Battlefield titles. It got better, but it’s certainly not fixed. It should be more flexible, starting the vaulting even when not touching the object, so you won’t have to spam the jump button until it actually activates. Also, there are many places that vaulting never works, even if objects appear “vaultable”. 99% FIXED!
    · Getting stuck in geometry (small rocks/objects/ground) 99% FIXED!
    · Netcode. Had been improved (never got even close to Bf1 Netcode. Latest patch broke it further, game becomes "gluey" sometimes and dying behind walls is the worst that have ever been.
Still broken - no one cares though.
    · Getting stuck indefinitely on loading screen. DICE said they are aware of this and it will be fixed. FIXED
    · Screen goes completely black when passing by some places (2?) in Devastation map. 1 is for sure between point D and E, under the broken building, I haven’t taken note of the other(s). NOT FIXED

    · Game menu. NOT FIXED Still horible design, forced to exit servers to enable Assignments.
    · You should be able to switch teams. NOT FIXED
    · Joining with a friend has been improved, but everyone in a squad should be able to invite a friend, not just a squad leader. I have 1 friend I play with. If we join as a squad (of 2 people) we need to find another squad to fill 4 once in a game. Either automatically put us with another 2 person squad or let anyone invite/join a squad.

    · Bipod. I wish it would stay broken to “balance” camping players but the truth is they are not trustworthy right now. Still clunky. Just see how they were on bf4. It took time to set bipod (risk-reward) it always worked, and you couldn't look at all directions (for balance and realism)  just about 60 degrees in front of you. Why is this so hard?
    · Friendly/Enemy AP/AT Mines distinction. Should I shoot it or not? FIXED
    · Grenade icon visibility. Barely visible in most places, practically invisible on snow. 90% of the times I die from a grenade is because I didn’t even know it was there. NOT FIXED

    Gameplay/Spawning/Balance/Q.o.F. Issues:
    · Camping meta: Tied with visibility issues and MMG guns. NOT FIXED Seriously, its the only reason I will stop playing. So many things can be done for this:

    1. Being able to spot only bipoded players

    2. Reduce damage from MMGs

    3. Being auto spotted if prone for long time

    4. Make MMGs normal machine guns and not bipod-only

    Just pick one.

    Suggestions:

    - Shouldnt be able to get 100 damage with AP mines by stacking them. Either low the damage of both combined to 85, or increase the distance between them SIGNIFICANTLY.

    - Vehicle entering/exiting animations. They are realistic, they are NOT fun. Basically says do not enter/exit a vehicle ever you will just die.

Why use the mouse buttons when dying instead of the space bar like in BF1? Hands free!

    - You should start the round with full ammo. Everyone just picks up from the base and the support players don’t deserve getting points just for spamming resupply on the start of the round.

    - Fires should be cosmetic only, unless they MUST do damage for map design reasons, in which case the color of the fire should be different (so you know it will hurt you) There are literally more than 100 places with fires in 9 maps you can’t expect players to learn which of them are safe or not.

    · Ammo/Health resupply stations should be pre-built and indestructible. Not everyone plays with friends.
