Just got BF5 , Gun won't work bug , and game won't go to desktop when ending

I just got BF5 , thinking it would be even better than BF4 , Kind of disappointed in the bugs in this game and did not get any auto-update patches to fix said bugs that seems to have been in it since its release from what I read here and on Google

First issue seems to be unresolved , since it happened to me on the first bit of playing , (I only play Single Player) , if you find a weapon laying on a table and pick it up/swap with one of your guns , you can now no longer bring up your weapon nor switch weapons , unless (I found out after reading some forums on this subject that had plenty of posts about it) you go back to the table , and grab back your gun , then swap them again  , it seems this should have been addressed already , yet my brand new game , is not patched already for this bug

Jump/Vault , I tried when following the officer up the rocky path to get to the Hanger , to climb/jump anything to get up the climbing areas , and I ended up having to (after about a dozen attempts) go over to the edge and force myself up there on the side of the area you can climb , and basically jump up in small increments

Exiting the game  , I stopped playing and closed out the game as you normally would , on the last click of going to my Desktop , the game just stopped responding on that splash screen  , my mouse worked as far as moving goes , so nothing was locked up , but the game just sat there  , I couldn't click on anything , just move my mouse around , I waited almost 5 minutes for it to close on its own , but it never did ,  so finally I decided to just push the power button on my PC and hard boot my PC (which I don't like doing) , my PC itself wasn't locked and is plenty fast enough to run this game (Win 10 , I7 8700K CPU , 32gb Ram , 12gb GeForce RTX2060 video card) , it was the game itself that basically stopped responding and just wouldn't close

I am afraid to play the game again , in fear it will do it again and start corrupting files on my PC from having to Hard Boot it more

Is there patches anywhere that are not Automated ?? , that I need to download somewhere ??  , because the game didn't do any Patch/Update since I installed it , which I would think would be the case , but the only download in my EA Launcher is the game itself from yesterday , no other downloads show , which I find odd , because Steam does downloads and patches all the time , especially right after you install a new game

Game a little choppy sometimes , especially during Cinematic video's  (my PC is well above the Recommended Specs for this game)

Any idea's ?? , as these bugs are really annoying , and I would have thought they would have been addressed since the release of this game in 2018 , but I haven't found anything , but actually don't know where I should look , since I have mainly used Steam to launch all my games , but this was downloaded directly with the EA Launcher , so all downloads need to go through it I guess ... but haven't

Any helpful info would be appreciated ... Thanks ... Jim

  • @TheJimDirt I think this bug has been encountered by all players, I also had it in BF3 and BF4 and in BF5 too, but quite rarely. Just open the task manager (Ctrl+ Alt+ Del) and turn off the game in it, if after that you want to play again, then maybe the game icon on the desktop will not work and you will have to restart the computer, after that, personally, everything starts working as it should, but occasionally the bug still occurs

Thanks for the Reply , Although I did try Cont/Alt/Del to get to the Task Manager and it did nothing  , the game was basically not allowing me to do anything , which is why I had to do a Hard Boot  , I could move the Mouse around on the screen , but otherwise I was unable to do anything with the game as far as closing it , or actually clicking on anything , and again , I couldn't escape to close the game that way   , but , After I opened the game again (after the Reboot) , it seemed fine
