@keitheatherly The Krag does have the lowest base damage of the bolt action rifles together with the K31/43. However, compared to the other bolt action rifles it does not have any damage drop over range. It is a one hit kill to the head, so you probably got something wrong.

- was it a wallbang? Penetrable objects reduce damage.

If it doesn't have any damage drops over range compared to other sniper rifles, then what's the use of having low drag rounds combined with zeroing and a tripod?
I also took my time with headshots, and made sure it wasn't a wall bang, and 1 out of 3 things happen, I miss, I only did 34 damage or I took too long to line the perfect headshot and get killed by somebody else, especially other sniper rifles. I just can't be sure if I lined up the headshot right or else I'll take too long, and many times I don't get a single shot out of the krag to know if my aim was off.
