For example I shot someone at point blank range with a M30 drilling and nothing happened, next thing I know I'm being stabbed in the back by the person I'm looking at because while I saw them on my screen, in reality I was just standing there not moving. Another time I unloaded an entire mag of the STG only to have all the bullets instantly come back into my gun because it never actually fired in game. You as the person with lower ping has the advantage, if you truly believe you have the advantage I highly encourage you to go into another region server with 300+ ping, run infantry and post your video results here 🙂
Planes are different due to being linear in nature, you cant make your plane change in any direction within a split second like you can on foot so you can compensate the lag but the other aircraft do have an advantage as the lag you face with high ping can cause the screen to freeze for half a second and this can cause you to have to relign up your shot in a dogfight or worse put you in the ground during a strafe before you realize you've hit the ground. I've detonated in the air because in reality my plane was about 1 second ahead of what I could see.
In a 1 on 1 firefight however, it's pretty much impossible, because none of your bullets hit, when they are jiggle peeking. That's the reason why I am asking for a ping limit all the time.

@N4v1s
I can tell you there is a half scoend latency I will feel when my ping is above 115 . I have been to EU servers 2 or 3 times (for daily missions) and the ping there is above 200 to me , at that situation most of my bullet won't count due to packet loss , they are lost forever when shooting out of the barrel .
- 6 years ago@Roadmay Well I guess our experience does differ at that point. The matchmaking regularly puts me on servers where I have 140 ms ping and it is exactly how I described it before. So with just 115ms you should be alright as well.
Going above 200ms is something different. At that point it feels like you described it. I guess the bad ping help code is limited to some value between these. - 6 years ago@N4v1s I cant speak for the netcode assistance you're speaking of but if it exists it's never helped me. I've had friends tell me my player has been standing still while on my screen I'm running around. If you shoot me I die but when I shoot you...nothing as I'm not actually there. What I see and what the game sees is 2 very different things. As I said planes fly very linear and so when they turn I can workout where they're going to be. However on the ground you can go in any direction at any time and that's where you'll get dropped. I'm on Xbox so perhaps it's different on other platforms but I imagine the same applies to all.

Back to the topic at hand...
It's getting worse. I've started to notice that multiple hackers with the same clan tags are joining servers and going on opposite teams to ensure both sides get a hammering, plus they're somehow circumventing the stupid anti-profanity filter (which, in case I haven't already mentioned, is stupid and a waste of time).
What's more worrying is how DICE took the time to implement and test a profanity filter, which nobody really wanted, but didn't have the time to implement an anti-cheat such as punkbuster.
Honestly, I've NEVER played a game where the hacking is as bad as it is in this game... Even going back to games I was playing 15 years ago. Yeah sure when I played Swat 4 there were hackers, but there were admins to deal with it, so it was all in hand. In this game, there is NOTHING. They can roam free and do as they please. And EA/DICE banning them (when they get around to it) is hardly a deterrent because they can go straight onto a CD key resell site and buy a key for around $5, if that.
We need dedicated servers back.

Just a reminder to people who may now be looking at this thread as a whine about pings, but I can assure you this is about how poorly EA are looking after the cheating epidemic on the BF servers.
Im pretty sure there is a ping thread somewhere else if others are interested in that.
