MMGs and incendiary rounds

Hello everyone,  first thread on this forum. I haven't found another, so i decided to make a new one...

I wanted to talk about the MMGs incendiary rounds. I think that these could be a bit more effective against fighters and bombers. Today i had a rare occasion to fire an almost whole VGO magazine(60 bullets) into an enemy plane and i did whooping 28 damage. This was a rare situation, because he was flying very slowly. Most of planes don't stay in place and move fast, it is difficult to hit them, so i think that increasing their damage from 0,5 hp(it seems they deal so much damage) to 1 damage point per bullet would be a good idea. It would make weapons like MG42, M1922 MG and VGO more effective against planes. It is hard to kill a bomber with one fliegerfaust salvo, you have to be very skilled or very lucky, and that small change would help to finish them off, before they fly away. Support class could take some work from assaults, which could focus more on combating tanks.

Not to mention, that in order to take incendiary rounds, you cannot equip improved weapon cooling(which is great), so incendiary rounds should be better, for that reason too.

It would also increase popularity of those weapons, because i don't see them used(so i see, you may have a different experiences).I rarely get killed by an MMG user.

After 200 hours of playing i have managed to destroy a bomber with an MMG twice. Once with M1922 MG, once with VGO. A breaking moment in my BF V carrer.(lol)

I played a lot in BF1(over 800 hours), and i was flying as a bomber, have several hundred kills, so i know what a joy it is to destroy a fully manned tank.😉 But if its going about planes in BF V i have mixed feelings. I think they are too powerful, especially on some maps. I play mainly conquest and almost completely gave up on maps like Iwojima or Al-Sundan.

Killing a tank with several soldiers around by one big bomb is meh.😞

One could say, that current tools for combating planes would be sufficient, if there would be somekind of teamwork, but... sometimes it doesn't seem that way.

I fully understand where you're coming from here, however I would have to disagree that the current tools available for combating planes are only efficient with team work.

In order of effectiveness from highest to lowest here is the best tools anyone can use to effectively and efficiently take out enemy aircraft solo:

    1. Aircraft
    2. MAA
    3. Stationary AA
    4. High Velocity Tank
    5. Fliegerfoust
    6. M1A1 Bazooka
    7. Panzerfoust
    8. Stationary AT cannon
    9. LMG/MMG
    10. AT Grenade
    11. Lunge Mine - Runway Camping only

It makes sense that an aircraft will always be the best thing to take out another aircraft, however the AAs in the game have an extreme range that make the smaller maps such as Arras an absolute nightmare as they aren't even required to leave their spawn to be able to hit you on the other side of the map, the blast radius allows you to be hit even behind a mountain or below cliff level and the damage output is so large it only requires a few well placed shots to destroy an aircraft.

Regarding your LMG/MMG incendiary damage output, the main difference between BF1 and BFV is BF1 had wooden aircraft that once caught fire would destroy key components. The BFV aircraft are metallic and so it makes sense that the incendiary wouldn't do nearly as much damage.

The main reason you don't see as many MMG users anymore is the TTK changes coupled with the increase to recoil has made many MMG users who would primarily camp off capture points, frustrated that they no longer had laser-beam type weapons and this isn't necessarily a bad thing as it's forcing people now to push objectives and engage head on with the enemy and leave the sniping to the snipers.

I hope this has given you another perspective to look at, thanks for your new thread and I hope to see you post more 🙂
