[PC] BF5 crash to desktop on clean install
EDIT: the current state of problem solving attempts and their merits can be found here although the problem has returned as of today (19.12.)
Good afternoon everybody,
in preparation for BF5 I purchased a new rig to enjoy the game on current hardware, therefore my system has been set up from scratch (not a wildly extravagant OC setup, just the best my dealer had to offer):
Mainboard: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO
CPU: Intel i9-9900K
Graphics: MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
RAM: 64GB DDR4 2133
On a fresh Windows 10 install (Build 1803 / 17134.441) with NVidia 417.22 drivers, I installed Origin, downloaded BF5 as the only game so far, and hoped for a great experience... unfortunately, the game keeps crashing to the desktop after a few minutes of gameplay. As I haven't yet identified any reasons for this, I tried these steps:
- uninstalled and re-installed NVidia drivers (with plenty of reboots)
- uninstalled and re-installed BF5 (again with plenty of reboots, even explicitly running Origin as administrator as recommended in many threads here
- monitored system hardware for temperature issues (CPU goes to 100°C maximum, GPU to 71°C maximum during gaming or during a 12h stress test), so this possible reason can be safely discarded
- tried to play with DX11 or DX12, DX12 with or without DXR
- had a look at the Windows event log with a message (one occurrence per crash) stating

As this seems to be similar to the problems stated in other threads, I tried all the steps described in here but nothing helps. I gather from this thread I'm not the only one...
To make sure all the information required is available, I'll attach the dxdiag.txt, the output of the HWMonitor tool and the NVidia system information.
BTW, on my old rig (i5-3570, 16GB RAM, R9-290X) the game ran just fine, although with rather low graphics settings.
Thanks for any advice!
