If your on uneven ground it will not land where you expect it. If your higher than your target you need to aim closer, if your lower aim higher.

Hard to do that as I dont think it tells you distance correctly.

I play on PC and noticed the same thing.
Pretty much. I also try to shoot it up so it goes in an arc as sometimes stuff is in the way.
