I am having the same issue as you. all fresh installs. just did a complete wipe and reinstall on my PC. game is on the same drive as windows. SSD. all drivers up to date. downloaded installed and tried bf5. it failed to launch. deleted, redownloaded and reinstalled again and still will not launch. game worked fine before I wiped my drive and started over again. kind of sad that I can get Star citizen, a buggy, laggy alpha, to run and play and I cant get Bf5, a released game, to play.

It is possible your GPU is not actually being used when you play.

Make sure your display is connected to your video card and not your motherboard and then follow these steps:

    1. Open the nvidia Control Panel
    2. Click Manage 3D settings
    3. Click the Program Settings tab
    4. Click the Add button
    5. Select the game from the list or click browse and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield V\bfv.exe
    6. Select bfv.exe and then Open
    7. Customise individual settings if you like
    8. Exit nvidia control panel and try playing.

Please try this and let us know if you are good to go. Thanks.

Just throwing my two cents in for what it's worth. Experiencing exactly the same as the rest of y'all. Earlier today I was able to load BF5 without an issue (aside from one involving being unable to access EA Online's servers meaning I couldn't actually play online, said something about my connection being unsuitable, while ignoring the 85 hours I've already put into the game), then I quit, restarted the PC, loaded up Origin to try and play again. Nothing. Nada. Zip.

Clicking on Play in Origin causes Origin to hang for 5 - 10 seconds, without launching BF5 completely. In the task manager I see BF5 appear, use some system resources, watch as Origin goes to Not Responding yet again, and then closes the game.

I have reinstalled Origin, as admin and as normal, run compatibility install on Origin (It installed it with Win 8 settings, nothing), reinstalled, repaired, and updated both BF5 and BF1 at least a dozen times, done a clean boot of Win 10, still the same problem. I will say that I tested BF1 when BF5 first acted up, and I was able to boot it up, twice. Now it has the same problem as BF5. This is on a clean install of Windows 10, only two days old.

I have even looked into RegEdit, as checking Event Viewer gave me a few odd notifications, still nothing. The game was working yesterday, it was working earlier today. Nothing has changed that would warrant it failing so spectacularly in the meantime. I am at my wits end. I can play games on Steam with zero issue. All my drivers are as up to date as they can be. I've also got a weird bug stating "Origin display name field missing from registry". That one is new to me.

By the looks of it this issue has been ongoing for a while now. Kind of worries me really.

Sounds very frustrating!  I would be going nuts!

I would recommend, uninstalling Battlefield and the Origin Client.  (as it seems you are experiencing a file issue rather than a display one - skip a clean GPU driver install)

Run CCleaner to remove any risidual files hanging on and clear the registry, I would clear the temp and %temp% folders aswell (Winkey + R).

Re-install both Origin client and Battlefield, long I know - but should fix the issue.

    Best of luck!

I've tried basically every step listed in this thread and the game still will not launch for me on my stepson's PC. It was working absolutely fine yesterday/last night and after today's update i'm having the exact issue described by everyone above. I've been attempting to troubleshoot for almost 4 hours now. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP MAKE THIS GAME RUN!!!!

    FIXED IT!!!

So I went through pretty much all the steps in this thread but was still having the same launch error. My more-tech-saavy brother asked if I had been deleting user settings as I reinstalled things like Origin and BFV.. so I went into user/documents/battlefieldV and deleted the settings file, rebooted and the game launched no problem.

I hope this can help some of you!

@OdisGrey - You are a boss! I tried everything - deleting my temp folders, the game, origin, reinstalling it all, almost went to editing the registry. Seems though that the issue lies in the settings if you have dx12 enabled. Deleting the settings will default it back to dx11, and it should launch no problem! Thanks again!
  • Hi Everyone,

I had the same problem and what i also want to point out is Windows 10 Fast startup. If this is enabled your computer isn't really shutting down.

Try disabling this feature under Control panel -> Power options -> Choose what he power buttons does -> Change setting that are currently unavailable -> uncheck fast startup -> Save changes -> Reboot -> try again

Hope this will help for some who having trouble starting BFV.
