Re: Battlefield V - Update 6.2 (Available Thursday 5th March)
@EA_Atic Feedback on the patch:
I have been playing extensively after the patch, and I can say right now that it feels like it's back to where it needed to be rolled back for a reason. It was actually really enjoyable again after the previous rollback back then, but reintroducing these "tweaks" have made the game significantly less tactical already
The TTK changes now mean that accuracy no longer matters - run and gun sprayers have a massive advantage in this patch, since they don't actually need to hit accurately to get easy kills. Alternative are campers lying down, which is now again the only two viable playstyles for infantry, like it was last time this was implemented.
Some weapons seem to not be impacted by the changes, e.g. the 2A which seems to have zero recoil, completely contradicting the patch notes (at least I've seen people fire it in full auto, not missing a bullet on multiple successive targets, at mid-range, center mass, while getting shot at) - other weapons seem to have arbitrary recoil, sometimes staying straight on target, other times jumping in one bullet from center mass to not even remotely near the target; having more difficult recoil is good, having arbitrary recoil, not so much.
Kar98, I've had roughly 12-13 instances, shooting at a stationary target, and the bullets giving zero damage, visibly passing through the target. Note, this is at ~20 latency. Target neither moved before or after. I haven't tried other sniper rifles however.
Buffing the mines - not sure what you did. I just watched a Sherman drive over 3 stacked mines, and get no more than 68 damage. If that's buffed...
On top of that, the report ID 0 bug is back, big time. It kinda feels like some of the code in the patch, was just putting the same buggy stuff in that was there before, which had to be rolled back last time. Others have mentioned this as well.
I loved being back in BF5 with the Pacific before this patch - but this patch significantly changed the dynamic and balance, and not in any good way, in my opinion. The TTK and TTD have SEVERE discrepancies, which is a major issue, as it was the last time. I don't have count on how many times I've made multiple successive headshots with the Sturmgewehr at mid-range (I have headshots colored, so they're easily recognizable) and not getting the kill, yet experience getting killed by the same weapon in what feels like 2-3 shots, no headshots. That's typical for TTK/TTD discrepancy, which took major effort to minimize in BF1 even, after a similar change was implemented. This was not an issue prior to the patch.
A separate issue, noticed prior to the patch, I had experiences where shooting planes with the fortress cannons did 0 damage. Direct hit to the fuselage gave 20 damage, but literally two hits on wings in one flyby, shells exploding on the opposing plane, leaving 0 damage. I'm not sure if that was fixed, as it was not in the notes, but that can't be intentional.
In short, I really am not enjoying the patch so far. Some of it is getting used to it, sure, but there's definitely some elements that yield arbitrary results.
On the upside, the tendency to matchmake to US West Coast servers from Europe seems to have gone, as indicated in the notes, so there's that - and I enjoyed the tongue in cheek reference on the free skin given to the Sherman, when paired with the Iwo Jima camo. "Coming Soon". :-)
