Thanks for this, but I’m not talking about emblems, I’m talking about clan tags. I can’t see a way to report those in game.

Ultimately what you and I think doesn't matter. I want EA or DICE to say whether it's acceptable or not. If it's acceptable, I won't bother reporting it. If it's not, they should take action. This isn't a rhetorical question. I'm asking on their support forum and I want an answer. If they want us to police the community they need to tell us what's acceptable and what isn't.

  • @TheHeroLad They haven't given us an answer yet. I don't want to give you a history lesson on what SS means, but it is most likely something that is considered offensive (even though in this game, you can play as a Nazi).

Thanks, I see how the title might be a bit ambiguous - I think it's repulsive people use this clan tag. I'm not seeking permission to use it. Anyone who suggests it's somehow okay because it could mean something other than Nazism is weirdly prioritising hypothetical people with the initials SS over the real actual humans who are personally affected by antisemitism and other forms of hate. I just want EA to tell me whether I'm wasting my time reporting the tags when I see them.

  • @TheHeroLadI say, it should be reported. I'm on PS4, so reporting options are very limited on PS4 because the only thing you can report on PS4 is the specific platoon, so if you find that specific clan (which you can plug a clan tag on that one website that I forgot the name of and it will give you every matching platoon that has the tag) you can then report it for Offensive Content in-game or on the companion app.

You're right I'm sure, my wider point is assuming SS is unacceptable, why does DICE allow it to be inputted in the first place? Why is it down to you and me to do in our leisure time? And I repeat, on top of it apparently being our job to police the community, it's not clear SS even violates EA's terms. Some clarity would be great.

This forum is called 'Answers HQ'. It'd be nice if they were the ones providing the answers. Thanks for your time though.

@TheHeroLad This is predominantly a player to player support forum, but the Community Managers are very active too.

However, you can and should report tags like these, they are not acceptable. I use the Companion app myself (easy to search for platoons that way and there's a report button specifically for this) and reports are investigated. You could also use the platoons section in-game too. If it's found that the tags break the Terms of Service action will be taken.

  • Thanks for your reply. I'm sure you can appreciate it's frustrating to be told to report the clan tag [SS] every time I see it, when EA or DICE could surely just make it harder for white supremacists inflict it on the community.

Also I've used the app, I'm searching 'SS' to report it. I am being told I need to enter a minimum of three characters. Presumably I actually need to know the full name of the platoon to report it? Grateful for advice on this.

  • @TheHeroLadThere is a website out there that can find platoons by just plugging a clan tag, but I forgot the name because the last time I actually needed to use it was like 3 years ago. The name was something related to platoons and battlefield but don't know the exact URL unfortunately.

@TheHeroLad I agree entirely, and this is a purported reason why user-created emblems isn't a 'thing' in BFV. The hateful minority appears to have spoilt it for everyone else.

That's a good point about the character limit. I've probably forgotten that as I've been searching 4 letter tags mostly at the moment. Will have a fiddle around and see if there's a solution to that.

@TheHeroLad I think the simple answer is that there is little to no attention being paid to this game by anyone at DICE or EA these days. If they can't get a handle on the rampant cheating on PC that has been in place for years and constantly reported, there's no reason to expect them to take action against clan names/tags. My sense is that they've got a junior person that updates the weekly assignments and tweaks the armory every couple weeks, and that's about it.
  • @DaMutha1They already milked all the money they could from the game, now their moving on to the next project.

Though it is a shame that Battlefield V was abandoned very early, because the game had the potential to become the best in the franchise. If they love that $$$ why didn't they continue attracting more and more players to the game, the game was already in the process of becoming a great game and they just left us in the dust on June 4th, 2020.

@TheHeroLad Sorry to say that the only way I've found platoons using this tag is by knowing the platoon name (or search using associated words). That will indeed make it harder to report these platoons unfortunately.
