Re: Purple/green screen flickering randomly

@2042isNotBF Sadly, it is still flickering some times with the option turned off. It only flickered in the main menu while checking assignments and the armory, didn't do it in game ☹️

If you have any ideas I will test them. I think this is related to the game as I played games like Battlefield 1, Battlefront 2, Anthem Beta, PUBG, Destiny 2, Overwatch, Black Ops 4, Shadow of War, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and none of them showed this issue

  • @solraac10 Well good it is not doing it in game just the menu, the most I can think of the second is try lowing some video card settings in game just to see if it will fix the menu. Other then this make sure your screen res and  screen Hrz are set the same on desktop and in game. As well as on desk top do this if you have a NVIDIA video card try this and it will give you more FPS in BFV not the issue but still worth a shot  ...

First step open NVIDIA Control panel under 3D settings go to Adjust image settings with preview

Pick use my preference and set it to performance and hit apply.

Next in Nvidia control panel go to .. manage 3D settings add BFV and make sure this in in place....

BATTLEFIELD V NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL SETTINGS:

    Anistropic filtering: Off
    Antialiasing – FXAA: Off
    Antialiasing – Gamma correction: Off
    Antialiasing – Mode: Off
    Antialiasing – Setting: None
    Antialiasing – Transparency: Off
    Maximum pre-rendered frames: 1
Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance
    Shader Cache: On
Texture filtering – Anistropic sample option: Off
Texture filtering – Negative LOD bias: Allow
Texture filtering – Quality: High performance
Texture filtering – Trilinear optimization: Off
    Threaded optimization: ON
    Triple buffering: Off
    Vertical sync: Off

For Origin turn off cloud storage and turn off origin in game.

Next step in game video settings advanced .....

Make sure frame rate limiter is set to 200

future frame rendering- off --you can put this on for a few fps but you will get input lag and makes it more harsh to get a kill.

    vertical sync- off

    GPU memory restriction- off

Below set everything to custom med or low <--I use low as I want FPS over eye candy.

    Under video Basic ....

    motion blur set to 0

To see fps in game with no typing do this....

To see FPS in game with out fraps etc:
    1- open note pad
2-put this in the note pad.....

    perfoverlay.drawfps 1

Perfoverlay.fpsdisplayscale 4 <<< this can change to 3 or 2 or 1 depending how big or small you want it. 4 is large.
3-when you make the user.cfg in notepad, change the file type from text to all. And name it user.cfg
    4-Put in .....:\Program Files\Origin Games\Battlefield 5
    5-Also close Origin to put cfg in just to be safe :}
6-You will see your FPS in top right of screen when you start BFV

NOTE... this works for BF1 as well

@2042isNotBF So... I modified all the settings as you advised (I would show NVIDIA Control Panel but they are in Spanish). Find attached the in-game advanced settings with Motion Blur 0%, Future Frame Rendering OFF, Vsync OFF and GPU memory restriction OFF.

I have played around 40 mins and also tinkered a bit through the menu trying to force the game to flicker, however, it did not flicker at all! Not even on the main menu.

I will update the case when I play more if it keeps happening. Would you have any insight on which particular setting could cause this?

Thanks a lot! It was driving me crazy as I thought it was the GPU when I first encountered it...

    Hey all,

Sadly the flickering came back yesterday even in-game (played the game after the update yesterday) ☹️ I also reinstalled the game for the 3rd time as well.

I always play the game with Discord (sometimes open, sometimes closed) and Origin obviously, the rest of the softwares are closed.

    Any other ideas?

  • @solraac10  Recheck all settings I gave you and make sure discord overlay is off. I find settings change after game update at times in game :/ As well as check desktop settings for video card as NVIDIA control panel setting reset at each launch since new update 1.09 I was told not sure as I cant test as I took down my BFv yesterday due to building new rig today.

Discord overlay was on and I re-checked all the settings (they were reseted indeed).

    I'll test today, let's see.

    Thanks for all the suggestions!
  • Well, around 5 mins into the game it did it again on the main menu. I did put the settings back to Ultra to test. I'll put them back to medium/low and check
  • Same thing, flickers randomly, however, way less frequent with graphics on medium
  • Installed latest NVIDIA drivers, reinstalled the game and still happening. I did notice that it happens way less with the setting "FX Amount" in Low, it happens quite a lot if I set that to Ultra.

    Any ideas @2042isNotBF?

  • @solraac10  Just now nothing off the top of my head as I cant get into game to test things out other then stay on low for now :/ . Sorry I got a bad MB out of the box so was not expecting this build to go on this long, sorry I have been AFK had to do mega testing on the MB before I put / send it in for a RMA on it.

Don't reinstall the game no need this is fully a setting as far as I can see Most you should do is remove BFV settings in my documents folder as this is all your settings in game.I always tell ppl put in on desktop in-case its not the issue Even when you remove and reinstall the game it does NOT remove the my documents BFV settings folder :] But every setting and game intro has to be redone so its a pain but faster then a reinstall of the game.

I would just check NVIDIA desktop settings make sure its still on performance. As well as recheck all in game settings. Truth be told I hate up dates on EA games as some always seem to take away settings more then once :/  I know when I put Origin and my back up of BFV back on my  SSD I am in for a war with both as Origin Loves to change my settings on a new install for about a week even tho I install Origin as Admin. If you have a external drive to store a back up of games on I can give you my steps to save games so its not such a pain to d/l them. And if you want to remove the solution on this post its ok as we only have it half fixed since the update. EDIT.. or just tell me and I can remove the solution not a big deal to me :} Edit 2 ... Make sure Discord overlay is OFF it just makes issues when the silly thing is on.

    @2042isNotBF

Yeah, I did remove the settings folder completely while I reinstalled the game, however, it flicker after that (this was a few days ago). I've been played since then and I did not flicker the days after that one, not sure what was causing it as I didn't touch the settings since the last time it flickered (when I reinstalled and remove the settings folder). I also had the Discord and Origin overlay disabled since the first time you suggested that, NVIDIA settings are set exactly how you suggested (set them back to the suggested settings by you when I reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers).

Let's see if I keep encountering it, however, so far so good!

PS: The game stopped flickering before the in-game UI update yesterday or the day before, so I don't think that influenced it.
  • Quick update, it seems that it only happens now on snowy maps (Narvik and Fjell 652) specially when the storm comes

  • @solraac10  For me on my new PC I have found the same issues in BFV  after the last update I have been testing it with different video card drivers and this seems to come into play a bit so far. My settings are on low as my screen is a Samsung 49" CHG90 QLED Gaming Monitor 144Hrz 1ms and I want the most FPS I can pull off. Strange part is its not doing it on my old rig just my new build.
