It always depends also where you hit a tank, if you hit the back of it or any other certain areas it can actually deal more damage to it as if you hit the upper better protected parts or like straight at the front of it cause usually Tanks are always most protected at the offensive parts and have the weak spots somewhere hidden (back)

So can be a huge factor how you positioning is to the enemy Tank as well.

Besides that, you never know if people are behind the enemy Tank repairing him constantly while he fights you.

Or if other Infantry enemies are hidden around that sometimes hit you at the same time with something as when the Tank shoots too, so you might don't really realize it that there is one but you get killed quicker.

Also positioning on the map can be making a difference, same as like "who shot first" and how long it takes the other one to spot you so you might shoot even twice before his first shot.

Maybe even different perks are the way to go.

And of course as more you play it, you'll get used to it. Also optimize your setup, settings maybe.
