espisen is correct. You only get about half the amount of your gun.
However, I experienced many times after I get ammo from ammo station or anmo crares, I still don't get the full amount of bullet.
For instance, You are supposed to be able to get 30 bullets total for the lee enfield. When I have this equipped with 3 bullets left in the magazine. when I get a refill, ammo crate or station, without clicking reload, my ammo storage would only get filled to 20 instead 27.
There are other times when I can only get 20 bullets total.. 10 in magazine and 10 in storage, Regardless how many ammo I have in possession. When that happens I have to fire off a few shots to nothing, (so I can get a refill) go back to the ammoo station or crates then try just keep trying until I get all my ammo and or
I guess that's because you don't take out your magazine to fill it. You will always have a maximum of two extra magazines.
The amount of ammo you carry at "max" when not reloading first, is in for instance the Enfield, 20 bullets(the two magazines) + bullets you already have in your gun/magazine.
So if you have 3 bullets left in your magazine, you don't swap that out when you refill, but you swap out/refill the magazines that you don't carry in your gun. Therefore you will end up with gaining additional 20 bullets, and not 27.
These details make the game more challenging and realistic 🙂,
I don't know why you only can carry 20 bullets sometimes, though. That might be a bug.
