This might be interesting on the new Solomon Islands map; "X marks the spot". 🤔

Or just a 2D tree (LOD) when seen from that camera.

I initially thought that it was a helicopter rotor. But, the rotors would be much too large, since each line of the X is about the length of the building seen on objective A in the same pic.

Or just a 2D tree (LOD) when seen from that camera. And ironically you can find a yellow X near (just below) the 2D tree on most map papers of Solomon Islands (found in Japanese deployment - Conquest)
Said mark is unconventional given that all other marks seen in the rest of the featured Pacific levels' map papers are actual Japanese map symbols used during the era.

And now that reminds me of a nearby rock I found yesterday that is sprayed with yellow texture. Could it be related?
- 6 years agoMy friend, I found a snowman in war stories, on a mission to find resistance without discovering you! Have you seen it before? I will try to download the picture for you

The yellow X is apparently marking the location of an interaction prompt:
As a player from the Japanese side, a prompt appears on a tree in Jungle River. Interacting with it in a way to play the Battlefield theme will hide it and play a confirmation sound.A treasure map by Milla, Niklas Åstrand's daughter, now comes in handy if you want to find out what's next.
A second interaction prompt appears on a tree in Salvage Site. Interacting with it the same way as done to the previous prompt will give the same result.
Then a third interaction prompt appears on an encryption machine located inside one of the buildings of the Japanese Conquest deployment (Deep Jungle). Holding the interaction button will play a Morse code message then make the prompt disappear. A few seconds later, Black Weapon's sound from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be heard in the whole level originating from the back of the deployment (East mountains).
Using Wabun code, the Morse code message decodes to (steps):- --.. .. -.-..

- ブキ (in Japanese, katakana)
- ぶき (in Japanese, hiragana)
- 武器 (in Japanese, kanji)
- Weapon (in English)

@Collision_TN Beat me to it. Nice write up.
I'd like to add a bit of lore. For the opening mission of Bad Company 2, you play during WWII as a US Marine on a top secret mission, code-named Operation Aurora, to secure and extract a Japanese defector named Watanabe. This individual is a scientist who was working on a secret weapon for the Japanese government, feared to be on a similar scale to that of the USA's atomic bomb. On 6 October 1944 at 06:00, the US Marines depart somewhere from the Sea of Japan onto Japanese soil (the exact location is unknown). As they attempt to make their getaway with the defecting scientist, an ominous, low bass "horn" can be heard twice, followed by a flash of light that blinds the area. The EMP scalar weapon had gone off at around 06:20. None of the Marines or the scientist is thought to have survived.
With this Solomon Islands EE (named "Tricky"), upon pressing the third and final button, you'll hear Wabun code that reads as "Weapon". Soon afterwards, you'll hear the exact same low bass "horn" noise from Bad Company 2.
Some thoughts and curiosities that come to mind... Will the WWII story from BC2 go into more detail in BFV? Is it something more crazy like, did completing the "Tricky" EE in BFV somehow set off the scalar weapon in Bad Company 2? Is it a hint at the next BF title - BC3? Lots of questions...
