Stuttering BFV

Hi guys,

I get in game stuttering ( during intro scenes and during game play) , but without FPS drops (it stays at around 80-100fps) .

My config is i5-8600 , RTX 2080, 16 Gb Ram DDR4@3000Mhz, SSD Samsung 850, G-Sync monitor, Win 10, driver 417.01 . I've tried all the driver versions, still the same stuttering. With ray tracing ON is every second, without the stutter exist but every 4-5 seconds. I've tried even at low settings, still the same. What is going on with the game? It runs like *.

  • Hey @Skmyblls,

    Sorry to hear about this.

Are you running DX12 by any chance? If so, please switch to DX11.

This is also a Known Issue on PC:

    "DirectX

    • Micro-Stuttering

      • If you’re running on Direct X 12 and seeing microstuttering in-game, go into the Video settings in-game and toggle Direct X 12 off. Ignore the pop-up, exit back to the options screen, then restart your game.

      • Microstuttering can also be down to a driver issue, whether it’s a driver conflict or the latest driver for your graphics card not working well with Battlefield V. If you’ve already tried a clean reinstall of your graphics drivers, you may just need to wait for a new driver to fix it.

      • Status: Fix coming in an upcoming update."

You could try turning off shader cache in NV control panel and delete the cache file in Nvidia programs file, this will make your cpu run a little more.

  • @Gattlin Thank you! I didn't realize this caching would cause stutters since it hasn't ever before in my experience.
Given the speed of I/O these days I thought it'd be fine, but this helped a lot.
There are still moments of frame drops but I can notice a difference in smoothness.
This needs more attention for Nvidia folks.
    I'm on a Ryzen 1700 platform w/RTX 2070.

Sweet any and all step to smoothness in gaming is a good deal in my book. Game on my friend.

  • @Gattlin I fixed it!!!
I saw that my vcore was dropping down to 1.31 at times while running stress tests and observing via CPUZ, so I changed my voltage setting to Fixed instead of Offset.
I only changed my vcore to Offset a while back on my X370 Ryzen platform BC of a BIOS bug a while ago and just kept it.
I normally like to keep CPU clock speeds constant.
I'd bet many people are experiencing similar things with Intel platforms and turbo boost.
Turn all that variable clockspeed * off and keep it constant.
    Power savings my butt.
Anyways, so glad to have a smooth system back omg, I was getting extremely frustrated with my setup. Much stress is released, had an amazing session.
I'm very sensitive to smoothness of inputs and screen responsiveness. I went 22-3 or 4 after playing 10-20 normally.
    I could cry. LOL
    Cheers,
I hope this info gets out there for others to test this out.
  • Hi,

I had the same issue and I tried lot of things (Standby List cleaner, all kind of settings with diferent APIs etc.). For me the microstutterin disappeard completley when I changed the Pollingrate of my G502 Mouse in the Logitech Driver from 1000 to 500.

I guess somehow the high Pollingrate is affecting the fluent Cursor movement in the Multiplayer.

    Cheers

Thanks, this was the solution!!!!!! Great find, finally ray tracing.

  • @SkmybllsHad the same issue, did a restore of backup, tried bf5, stuttering, did a fresh install still stuttering.
Installed new mouse driver for the corsair mmo mouse, I noticed a red strike through the task bar icon, figured it was for new driver notification.
Turns out the mouse had malfunctioned. Replace mouse with a Logitech m600 mouse problem fixed. If your mouse is an old one, this just could be a malfunctioned mouse.
FYI the mouse worked ok except I got jitters. Tracking issues, I dont know, replace mouse worked
