Microsoft pays companies like EA , Steam , Activision and others to add a locking script in their older games code that verifies the Windows version. If it detects a system currently no longer supported by Microsoft, it pops up a message about unsupported Windows . The same will happen with Windows 10 once support is complete (probably not right away, but up to a year from now it will probably happen).
Why is Microsoft doing this? For a simple reason, currently processors are so powerful that the top versions of the CPU of a given generation will last for many years to come. An example of this is, for example, the I7 8700K, which is an old core, and still performs very well even with BF2042 after a small OC to 4.7 ghz, for example, also Microsoft now contracts companies to add scripts that block games from starting on older versions of Windows.
In Call of Duty it was the same thing (we're talking about Call of Duty on the Battle.net platform), older Call of Duty that ran on Windows 7 normally to this day. Call of Duty Vanguard and BO CW got a patch that added a scrypt to prevent games from starting on Windows 7 and 8.1.
In Windows 11, they went so far as to add a list of processors on the system on which you can't install Windows 11 (Intel 7th generation inclusive down and some AMD series), and why does Microsoft use this type of CPU list lock ? To force an OS change, otherwise they wouldn't make money.
And in Windows 7, for example, they blocked the installation of updates for CPUs with I7 8700K and newer procs 🙂 Also Microsoft's rules and regulations are simple. You buy permission to use the OS, but they can do whatever they want with it and the fact that you spent money is of no interest to them. If they hadn't made such a lock on Windows 7, probably few people would have switched to Windows 10, because at that time W10 was terribly annoying and flawed, just as Windows 11 is now. MS instead of making a good Windows right from the start, so that users would switch to the latest Windows themselves, they write some experimental OS and study user feedback, only after 2-3 years they bring the latest OS to a reasonably normal order.
Of course, the official reason is to ensure security for users xD 🙂 , just like with electric cars, everyone knows they are not green, but politics are told to people that electrics will save the planet 🙂 It's just a pity that in the green deal there is nothing about the elimination of air transport. 1 Plane generates as much CO with one flight as several hundred thousand cars 🙂
It's all about cash, all decisions have nothing to do with reducing CO.
In the past Microsoft of this did not require the introduction of locking scripts from game developers, because PCs died a natural death , they simply became too weak and the user changed them. Currently, a user who bought a powerful CPU, without such locks, could use the PC for up to 15 years, that is, the business would not match and CPU manufacturers would go bankrupt.
Thats my opinion
