trouble accessing BF V australia servers

I can't seem to access any battlefield V servers in Australia.

When I try to list BFV servers there are none.

When I connect I always seem to be on more distant servers - e.g. something where my ping is over 100 (it's usually about 18, that's about what I still get with local BF1 servers), other players say e.g. it's a server in Singapore.

This has been happening for a couple of weeks now.

Can anyone please explain to me what is going on?

Also, is this the same experience for all membership categories (e.g. EA Play membership and bought the game itself)?

Is EA really still selling subscriptions for this level of service ($6.99 or $19.99 a months for online access to a server that's a 130 ping away)?

Surely if EA can no longer offer the service to customers in Australia they should be offering refunds or discounts?
