UI overlay shadow 0-100% no difference

really was pleased that after i had reported this during the alpha & beta, they introduced a shadow to the UI in the final release, but since a week ive been trying out this setting and was not able to see any difference, so my question, does the UI overlay shadow slider even work?! has it any effect? how does it look like for others?

attached are 2 screenshots taken one right after the other, only difference is the UI overlay shadow slider setting, one has 0%, one has 100%. i cannot see any difference, the white squad names are still blending with the white sky, hence are invisible, the health cross on the bottom is invisible as well if white sky is behind it, the team points and objective icons on top are somewhat visible, but because the sky is blue behind, only the ammo/inventory is fully visible, but not because of this setting but because the dark weapon is behind it, not the white sky. ignore the chat, it disappeared in the 2ns screenshot, this has nothing to do with the ui overlay shadow setting.

i cannot see any shadow at all.

all gfx settings @ ultra/maxed, dx12.

speaking of white squad names... one's own name should again be yellow everywhere as in bf1!
