v1.16 British AA tank pops flare when smoke activated.

Product: Battlefield V
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Please specify your platform model. Sony PlayStation 4
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Multiplayer
Which part of the mode? Conquest
Please select your region North America
On which server did this happen? [DICE] CONQUEST - #78068 (Probably any server though)
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) May 29th, 2019.
Summarize your bug Currently, the British AA tank will launch a flare when you activate the smokescreen button. It might be only with a specific loadout selected in the unlock tree, but it's definitely happened on many occasions for me.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? On the PS4 version, with the British AA tank, choose the unlock tree that will grant the three guns, the smokescreen, quick repair, and the flares. Activate the smokescreen at any time, and the tank will auto-launch a flare at the ground in front of it.
What happens when the bug occurs? When using the smokescreen, a flare is launched simultaneously, without selecting or activating the actual flare gadget.
What should be happening instead? The smokescreen alone should be activated.

I've noticed that with a particular loadout, on the PS4 client, (v1.16), the British AA tank will launch a flare from the front of the tank when you activate the smoke screen. Of course, the only thing happening should be the launching of the smoke screen. Especially as the flare is/can be a separate item entirely.

I've captured it in video. At the very first second, 00:01, I tap the smokescreen button. Even though the smokescreen itself is in cooldown/reload because it was used earlier, I am able to tap the button and launch that bug flare. A second or so later, I use my actual equipped flare as you can see. It couldn't have been the equipped flare because that was still in cooldown from the overheat function it has. https://puu.sh/DzJ0O.mp4

  • Well, you actually popped the flare button on the controller, smoke is on cool-down looking at the video. @Jan_Atreides 🙂

@EA_Atic It happens quite quickly, but if you pause the video at the start you'll see that I have exactly 8 flares, and the cooldown is just finishing. At just about one second in, notice that when you see that flare launch, the counter is still 8 flares, and the cooldown does *not* activate until just a moment later, when I shoot the flare from the main cannon toward 153* on the map's compass.

Two flares are launched in a short amount of time, and if you look at the cooldown once you have the flares equipped, this shouldn't even be possible. That very first flare at around one second was activated by tapping the smoke button. I'll get some more video of this phenomena soon if I can.

@EA_Atic Here we are. I managed to reproduce it. I hope this is clear in the video. Upon further review it seems the flare with this bug actually launches not from the turret but from the hull. And it seems to shoot straight out.

    - The first launches at 00:12, while I still have the 20mm autocannons equipped, so it shouldn't be possible to fire the official flares.

    - Second one is launched at 00:34, and I raised my cannons up so we can be sure it's not following the trajectory of those but from the hull. Still have the main autocannons equipped.

    - At 00:54 I equip the cannon-flares and tap the smoke button first. It launches a third flare and then I launch the proper flare from the barrel.

    - A fourth launched at 1:27, main guns still equipped.

    - The fifth and final launch is at 1:42, followed by a standard flare.

What I have noticed is that it seems these five 'extra', hull-launched flares can't be replenished via reload. They seem to be some sort of held-over glitch that are stocked to five per spawn of the tank.

Hey, @Jan_Atreides Thanks for the detailed breakdown!

You can clearly see it on the second video. 🙂
