Vehicle Repair Not Completing due to game micro stutter

Product: Battlefield V

Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Multiplayer

On which server did this happen? All DICE Australia servers
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 05.12.18 24:00
Summarize your bug Any attempt to complete a vehicle repair or resupply (ground vehicles ) fails to complete due to a micro stutter in the game that interupts the process. There appears to be a server side inefficiency causing the stutter.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Not known. My actions to solve this has been: Checked all Nvidia drivers, and Windows 10 are all up to date. Turned windows defender off and am not running an anti virus program. Have ensured all recommended ports are open.
What happens when the bug occurs? This micro stutter is constant so that any extended key press ( Such as running forward with a soldier, holding a repair or resupply button, or looking down sights ) causes that process to fail or glitch. Towed vehicles flail around behind vehicles, even on flat ground, whenever the stutter occurs which is approx every 5 secs. Looking down zoomed vehicle or gun mounted sights also pulls you out of that view, mid fight.
What should be happening instead? Smooth operation as per Battlefield 1 on High Settings for which I had, and have, no issues.

As above.

  • The efforts continued.

There was a small patch yesterday, and a router reset by me y(yet again ) and hey presto!

    The problem has gone away.

Seems like the router reset has worked its magic.   I actually turned the thing off for an entire night, instead of doing the 1-2min reset.

    Hope this helps others!

  • The next steps I've taken to try and address this is to uninstall and reinstall, both Origin and BFV.

This has not corrected the issue.

As Im experiencing this on ALL EA Servers, I ran the Netgraph and noticed that while latency, ping and tick rate are all fine, I am getting intermitted packet loss, and Extr Offset is swinging wildly.

So these micro stutters are all at the server level.  Given that Im local ( average 9-11ms ping ) the game should be running ALOT smoother than it does.

I have no latency or packet loss on anything other than EA/DICE servers.

A fix is required as currently the game is not really playable for me as I cannot:

    1) Repair ANY vehicle ( other than instant repair ability )

    2) Ressuply ANY vehicle

    3) Looking down gunsights ( even with Toggle on ) jolts the view out of, then back into view.

    4) Vaulting obstacles can take 2 or 3 attempts if the action is taken during the stutter.

Not a good gamning experience at the moment.

  • I have this same problem in every context of what you are explaining. I have the 980 Ti. Aiming down sights will pull me out of the scoped view and then push me back in, it's the worst in AA guns while zooming but happens while in vehicles and aiming down sights with even a SMG.

The vehicle repair is exactly as you described. It takes me around 20 cycles of repair to get in 1 repair job success.

I hope something can be done about this. It's incredibly annoying and game-breaking.
  • I could not repair or rearm vehicles too, I don't have the issues with aiming down sights though. A few patches ago I managed to fix this by turning vsynch off. However last patch this bug occurs a lot more regularly and vsynch doesn't have any effect. I do see the packet loss icon too. I used to get this occasionally with BF1, but sadly it has become more frequent in BFV.

Summarize your bug Any attempt to complete a vehicle repair or resupply (ground or air vehicles ) fails to complete due to a micro stutter in the game that interupts the process. There appears to be a server side inefficiency causing the stutter.
How often does the bug occur? most of the time (70%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to repair/ream a vehicle with simulated packet loss. Note the rest of the game appears to function normally. Perhaps look into how the check for repair cycle is working, is it more strict than it needs to be?
What happens when the bug occurs? The repair cycle sound plays and circle completes but no repair and/or rearm occurs. Sometimes I can hear a pause in the repair sound.
What should be happening instead? The cycle completes and one repair/rearm is given.

    Please look into this. Thanks.
