Illegal contact penalties and involuntary player movement off the snap
In my experience playing CB on RTG mode, Defensive Backs are being called for "illegal contact" incorrectly. It happens rather frequently and the most common situation is as follows. The ball is thrown and the contact is initiated by the receiver trying to block my player. The contact, initiated by the receiver is sometimes prior to the catch sometimes its well after the catch is made, yet I as the CB am being called for illegal contact. If the contact is initiated prior to the catch the call should be on the receiver not on me, but I am getting called for it and I can't avoid the contact. Often times I am in man coverage and on the receivers hip, the ball is thrown and the receiver immediately initiates a block and the flag is thrown.
A second issue I wanted to add in here is the occasional involuntary player movement off the snap. Playing CB on RTG mode as well and it happens multiple times a game. Happens regardless of zone or man coverage, or if I move prior to the snap or not. I've tried multiple inputs as well as minimal to no inputs off the snap and it still happens. An example: I have a zone coverage in the out which would make me the primary for a WR running a corner route.. I know that my player doesn't have a ton of speed so I want to make sure I have a good cushion in case the WR breaks to the outside. I will attempt to back pedal or have any type of movement off the snap, but instead I will be locked in some weird movement where my player will either come down, bump the WR, or sit almost entirely still and the receiver will get by me and get multiple steps before I am even able to take control of my player and try to recover the coverage. Often times the WR will get behind me and then make a break and the ball is out before I even get more than a few steps in trying to recover the space and as a CB especially with the slow starting speeds means you got burned.
I have tried so many things and I don't know if it is correlated with like a players awareness stat or something, but just not being able to move off the snap at all is broken. It's hard enough to make an impact as a single CB in a lot of games. It's really lame when you've played a great game and then the computer forces you to let someone blow by and burn you for a 1st down or TD. I've had other issues, but the game is still fun and I've been playing it a ton. However, these as a player you can't adjust for. It's forced L's by the game and that feels EXTRA bad.
