Same thing happened with me, playing with Tennessee on PS5. Went into edit player during year 2 for a player I'd recruited, didn't change anything though. Next game, Dylan Sampson had inexplicably changed from his correct #6 to #27. Player numbers are locked so there's no way to fix it in game.
Man this just happened to me and it’s making me not even want to play anymore!! This is so frustrating
