It's definitely greed, but I'm not entirely sure of the angle, since it's not EA's subscription service. I figure either they get some kickback from Sony/Microsoft for people signing up to their subscriptions or they figure everyone will buy the game this year and then again when they announce their "new" feature to be able to use Teambuilder in offline dynasties in a future year. It won't work on me - they will have lost all of my trust (and all future business from me) if they don't make it right this year. If we keep paying for this sketchy behavior every year, they'll have no reason to start acting ethically. And if it is some technical limitation (which is hard to believe since you can use Teambuilder offline for Play Now), they need to tell us, otherwise we'll have to assume it's entirely about screwing us for a little more money.
I don’t want to play online. The servers are unreliable and it’s overall just a bad experience. Even if the game was free and you only had to pay the online membership, I still wouldn’t do it. I haven’t bought an EA sports game in close to 5 years because they’ve stopped focusing on the offline modes and the games are very much the same as they were 10 years ago. CFB25 was going to be the first one I purchased but because of all this BS I still haven’t purchased and won’t until team builder is available for offline dynasty.

@hkyplr11 Thanks for that - now I understand why they're doing this nonsense. It's really disappointing. And completely with you on the online experience - I've tried it before and never will again (and will not be buying anything from EA, as the only way to get them to change their behavior is to stop making it worth their while...)
