Team Builder Unnecessarily Complicated

Is it just me, or is team builder just too unnecessarily complicated?  I am all for the customization options, but it feels like all of those options are for the things that really don't matter (specifically when comparing to the lack of generic/customizable stadiums, for example).

Some of us (those of us who were kids during the initial team builders), don't have wide open days anymore to work on a team and would like to use the functionality without the commitment.  If it takes hours to build teams, then it isn't going to work in our schedules and it's useless.

This is on top of the fact that we can't even see the previews in team builder and all of the customization options make us question what anything is going to look like.  Maybe I am just frustrated that months later the game is still not functional from a team builder perspective (on top of all the other issues).
