I've spent some time trying this for Unis, and so far the best thing I've found is creating a new image with the text you want. IE "Dragons" "ABC U". the tricky part is matching the background of the text to the uni color. If you have a red uni or blue or black set the background to the same color otherwise itll show up "Dragons" with a white background and not look good. You can add these in the "custom layers" option and move them around on the uni. I'm still perfecting this myself, I have white lettering over black uni but the background black isnt the same as the uni black and its a little noticeable. Hopefully this makes sense and is helpful.
