Hi encounterz1,
A lot of the time online issue like this tend to relate to a block by a firewall or security software. Could you make sure that you have added the C&C Generals installation folder to the safelist/exception list on your firewall/antivirus/security software.
After this relaunch the game and try to join an online match.

Checked all that and tried again, just keeps saying Im playing with a different version.
CnC Zero Hour has not had any problems at all, so I dont under stand why regular generals would.

Hi encounterz1,
Ok that gives me a better idea as to what's wrong, exit the game completely and open Origin. Right click on C&C Generals and click on "Check for updates". This will hopefully download the latest updates required, which should give you access to the online mode.

been quite some time without any further support on this, I see more and more people having the same issues with the ultimate collection. I must say, Im starting to feel a bit ripped off here.....

Reinstalling the game will probably work. Before it comes to that try uninstalling any mods you have and uninstalling/installing the patches manually.

and how would I uninstall patches manually ?

Go to your game folder, there should be a folder there with the patches, simply delete it.

Run Generals as admin to fix this issue.
