Command and Conquer Generals/ZH missing "ssleasy32.dll" file
First off, I have an Alienware 17, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB of RAM, Intel i7-4210MQ CPU @ 2.50GHz.
Upon installation of the Ultimate Collection, I installed Generals first. This is the game that I wanted to play. I disabled Origin overlay, ran compatibility mode for XP SP3 as Admin, and I have downloaded the DirectX SDK for March 2008. I have followed many of the examples used in other posts to fix this issue but to no avail.
When you start the .exe, the Generals "loading screen" appears then goes to the Black Screen of Death. You hear "EA Games" then the game minimizes to the taskbar. Only if you right-click the game, will it display the error message "Missing ssleasy32.dll". Any help would be appreciated. I really want to go back in time. 🙂
Two things I can advise:
- Download and install the DirectX 9.0c components from 2010. the DirextX 10 and 11 installed on modern Windows systems are missing some components from these older DirectX versions which these old games require.
- Make sure to run the game in administrator mode.
