Command And Conquer Ultimate Pack

I have the above pack and play the original Red Alert 1 virtually every day for years. I have just downloaded the latest Windows 11 version 24H2 (KB5046740). Now when I try to start the game I get a blank screen and it hangs. I have to hit cntl/alt/del and close the task via task manager to get control of the PC again. Sometimes even cntl/alt/del  doesn't work and I have to reboot.

I have tried repairing the game through the EA app. but once again if I start the game it hangs.

Any ideas please?

    Out of about 10 times I try to start the game, 8 give me a blank and 2 will work. I either have to cancel the game in Task manager or if that doesn't work I have to press the restart button on the tower. If I reboot the PC and start the game up without any other task it may start and play ok.  But if I close the game back to the EA Games app and immediately select Red Alert again, it can fail with a blank screen. It is bizarre as it worked previously, but EA cannot provide any clue or diagnostics as to what might be happening.
