Did anyone ever fix the AI and inevitable slowing down of gameplay?

I am wanting to get back into Generals/ZH/Shockwave. Did anyone ever fix the problem the game had where it would just slow down to an unbearable framerate and get clogged up once vast numbers of uni...

@o1den007 You just said it yourself; it's a game limitation. That means it's the game engine itself. Nothing can just 'fix'' that.
