Direct X / Video Card Error for C&C generals and Zero Hour

Question

"Please make sure you have DirectX 8.1 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements."

I have:
- Installed latest direct X
- changed the settings Here

- searched all of these pages for solutions Here

- i also had this problem but solved it Here
- Running Windows 8

The problem is, you do&nbsp;not need the latest DirectX. You need the older&nbsp;DirectX, namely version 9.0c. Apparently, some of the older&nbsp;components are&nbsp;lacking in the newer DirectX versions. Thanks a lot for the help but same thing man, tried that link exactly. I also downloaded another version of C&amp;C generals and I have the exact same problem.&nbsp;
