Ive found escorting scarabs with a uunit of riflemen to be extremely effecient because the riflemen can unit block another riflemen when trying to take out their harvester. No scarab can travel across the map by the time a opposing team can bring out a cheap unit most failures are an opportunity to adapt or rage quit and lode.
I sure would want to make use of a scarab deck, too bad I'm still far away from unlocking it. What's the maximum amount of scarabs a unit can handle anyways? On one particular match, I witnessed my tick tank get killed by 3 individual scarabs. that's 2 squads worth with one of them missing a member. How many could a mammoth/avatar handle before exploding?

One full Scarab will kill a Tick Tank. An Avatar would take one Scarab. Low and then kill the second before it launches.

What I meant is a burrowed tick tank. If I remember correctly, I had a tick tank harassing a harvester when 3 individual scarabs attacked the burrowed tick tank. The part with the Avatar, its going to take some special conditions. Maybe have an enemy flying unit fly over the avatar in a practice match while there is a scarab next to it. Do chem clouds explode from scarab explosions? It seems that from the chem warrior's quote, tiberium gas clouds are extremely flamable. It says "Nobody light a match".

I’m fairly sure 1 full Scarab will still take it out. Especially with the fire damage.
Maybe your our opponent had very low leveled Scarabs?
