I hope they do this SC:HD style; same engine with higher resolution re-rendered graphics, and only minor tweaks and bug fixes besides that.
Or, even better, Monkey Island style; with the ability to switch back and forth between original graphics and HD ones.
Heck, they could do what the Nintendo 64 version of C&C did; add height maps to all missions and make it 3D that way. I got those height map files for the missions.

But in my opinion. the old C&C games without live acting would be bad. Had a really bad feeling on resident Evil 1 remaster with the animated scenes : (

lol, that grenade thing is already fixed on CnCNet.
Obviously they'll need to remaster the videos too. Starcraft had it easy; it never used live actors. I guess for C&C they'll need to somehow clean up and enhance what original material they got...

Your wish came true!
I know someone at Petroglyph who is working on it and I can confirm they are using the original engine, the graphics have been redone for higher resolutions and you do have the ability to switch rendering modes from original to updated. When I talked to my friend, he said, "When you start playing the game, it looks like you remembered, so you'll ask, what did they even update?, until you switch to the original rendering and you be like, wow, that's bad".
