How to play 30 Hour + time spent map on Multiplayer using Origin CnC map editor?

I just spent a huge amount of time creating a beautifully articulated super detailed map ( 30 hours of time / maybe more - trust me I studied architecture) for multiplayer only to find out that there is no way for Origin users to play and share their maps online with the multiplayer community.

I've spent some time scanning the web for answers but so far could not find anything.

Is there a way to get this gem of a creation which I think will give many people endless hours of fun out into the CnC community for everyone to enjoy?

I would say this map is on par in quality with some of the best original official RA maps.

Kind regards

  • @Kabssss The online maps are synchronised with the Steam workshop, so, yes, that's a Steam-only feature.

This is due to the architecture; the server is the one actually playing the game, and it just receives input from the players. This means the server, and not the client, needs to have the map. So the map needs to be in some central repository for them to fetch it, and they chose to use the Steam workshop for that.

There's no way around this, except maybe asking a friend who has the game on Steam to upload it for you.

    Hi.

Yes I ended up buying and installing the Steam version for the workshop to which I was able to upload the map. The only problem is it took nearly 3 days for the map to be uploaded so I could host and share it for multiplayer. I've also tried uploading a new map and updated versions for different types of scenarios for my maps which seems to be pretty inconsistent with the maps not being uploaded and available for multiplayer. I did upload a new version of a map and it was available like 3 hours after I uploaded it. But then I tried to upload 3 other updates to which had still not been uploaded or available for multiply almost 24 hours later. Why is it so inconsistent?

    Thanks for your reply
