Map Editor - How to
How can I delete and remove a unit (Boat) that I placed in my new map with the map editor creator. I can seem to find a way to delete the unit I placed on my map? There honestly should be a rig...
Thank you, that will really help me going on down the long road. I wish ppm would post this in their mapping tutorials section, save us a lot of hassle.
Oh and Nyerguds, I cannot tell you that I had no idea that TD's max size was 62x62, hence why they hardcoded it at 64x64: just to make it compatible with both games. Why no one tells me these things, I will never know.
The actual map dimensions are 64x64 and 128x128, for TD and RA respectively, but the outer border is necessary for spawning in reinforcements and getting rid of transports and aircraft leaving the map, so the actual usable area is 62x62 on TD and 126x126 on RA.
Sorry for worrying you, but yes, I knew that, I just tend to forget that the 1 tile space you leave as a soft border on each map is vital and I tend to think of the obvious as redundant to mention, hence the confusion.
Make it two rows if you want to play with boats 🙂.
By the way i found an very old documentation on one Fan-Community Site may be a lot of new users are not aware of.I forgot about this aswell, 20 Years is a lot of time.
It is a complete Mission Editor Guide from Andrew Griffins and C. F. Harkins from 1997. There you can read a lot of explanations to things, that are not explained in the editor so well. For example what the <Do This X> (X=Number) Action will do. As far as i studied their Disclaimer and intention it is free to use as long you do not implement it in some kind of magazine or Software, charge fees for it and so on. Made for public to help fans understanding C&C Red Alert better. I guess a lot of stuff in there also applies to Tiberian Dawn.
Important: Always give Credits to its authors since they put a lot of effort into this and want their work to be used in that way they wanted it.🙌
Just Google: "The Red Alert
Single Player Mission Creation Guide" Version 1.1 is the "newest" so far. You can get it on ra.afraid.org a RA1 Fansite under Downloads/documentations. I was not able to upload since this forums does not like ZIP files nor TXT Files ( i have no idea why, may be it is just for screenshots).😢
This File should get a sticky since it leaves a very competent and structured impression about Editing and Creating Missions in Red Alert 1. So anybody will see it quickly without the need to ask about it.
