No Text Font in Menu - Command & Conquer: Generals

Menu font mission on C&C:Generals (and probably ZH, too... not checked yet, because i want to play it in the order of the story).

  • reinstalled game
  • reinstalled origin
  • reinstalled vcredist_x64.exe
  • checked for viruses (AV only thought, origin.exe was suspicious, but i added an exception to the AV program).
  • used multiple PC-Cleaner, that are suggested here in multiple forums) including the one, im always using.
  • Changed the language of Origin to english, france, german, chinese, russian, or whatever was avalable
  • removed all C&C registry entrys and reinstalled the game
    ...
  • have sent a prayer to Kane.

all of that didnt work out... (i was hoping, that at least the prayer would work ...)

C&C not installed, where origin is, because i had to install origin on C:/ and this harddrive is full.
The gamefoulder is on a different harddrive: E:\Origin Games\

there was a similar problem with another user and another game. (something with starwars).
I also tried all things, that were suggested there as well.

It worked a while. But something is strange now.

The time when it worked, it was version 1.04

And now it is version 1.8?

... does 1.8 even exists for C&C Generals?

Might also be important:

Im using the german version, because i like cyborgs more than humans. (im not joking... humans are jerks :P)

(cant upload picture, because im having some upload-problems right now... just imagine a menu without text).

thanks for reading.

C&C Generals is 1.8. Zero Hour is 1.04. They have separate version numbers.

Your problem sound to me like something simple compatibility mode should solve. That's always the first step when trying to run older games on newer systems; configuring compatibility mode  (probably Windows XP SP3) on the game's application files, and running the game in administrator rights mode.

Forgot, that reinstalling also resets the compatibility mode.

It worked on Windows 7 compatibility
