Really? Pretty much the first thing suggested there is "download & install the DirectX SDK from March 2008:" Did you do that?

The link there seems wrong, though. The problem is, you do not need the latest DirectX. You need the older DirectX, namely version 9.0c. Apparently, some of the older components are lacking in the newer DirectX versions. Remember, these are old games.

Thanks a lot for the help but same thing man, tried that link exactly. I also downloaded another version of C&C generals and I have the exact same problem.
