You can also just change the resolution in the options.ini file and use Gentool to even do this in-game. You really don't need the NVidia or AMD-control panel for this... The DirectX-error often does just point to a error with dbghelp.dll or not having the older DX9/8.1 installed. Can you maybe explain in detail what error you got and exactly how you fixed it, because your messages are a bit hard to read/follow 🙂
