Re: Stealth Tank Pros/Negs

I wish it wouldn’t automatically target enemies and that you had to manually attack with this unit so that you would not lose your stealth when you don’t want to. Make sense? I haven’t use this unit yet so I don’t even know if I am correct on what I am saying but it looks like that is the case when I watch people playing with it.

I have also thought about that feature before. It would bring some advantages, but also some disadvantages. I‘m fine with how it works now.

Stank was one of my favorite units in C&C 3, and it still is in Rivals. Feels nice to dive in and out of combat and hunt down single targets.

If your micro sucks, stank is pretty much useless. But if you micro well it is literally one of the strongest units ingame.

If a stealth tank is microed properly, is it possible to have in sneak into the base and harass the harvester/spy on the buildings?

Yeah, you just have to steer clear of any infantry or they will be able to attack you.

What is its sight range? If only the stealth tank is truly invisible to its opponent until it shows itself once. I would want to suggest that it has a 1 tile sight range and is invisible to the opponent. You could pair this with a scout to ensure it can reach its target safely.

Actually Stealth Tank is a bit misleading, you are correct. A more befitting name would be Untargetable Tank. Of course that does not sound as cool 🤓

Sight range is 1 I believe.

Doesn’t it look like a scorpion? How about scorpion II tank?😃

  • Not so much, if you look closely the Scorpion Tank has actual claws 😮

    The negatives are

    • Costly, but if you are using it over air then it's not so bad
    • Very easy to bait into firing
    • Long reload time
    • Needs a lot of micro to make it cost effective
    • Terrible for holding pads
    • Hard to get cards

The biggest negative for me though is that it becomes utterly useless if there's a level difference meaning it won't one shot what you need it to. I played big boss, recognised the name and went try hard to try and harpoon the biggest of whales. Got the the first missile and was very close to the second before he rolled out artillery, I couldn't one shot them so I then got destroyed because it bought him enough time to defend and roll out more. If they died in one volley I think I would have won despite his lvl 13-15 units and my 9-10.

But the pros are pretty obvious, it's fast, can one shot most air units (not the kodiak or I think basilisk too) and is very versatile and imo is better than the phantom in almost every deck. It's perfect for defending something like a giga cannon or taking out harvesters.

Definitely something I always want in my deck but if like me you rely on it and don't use air then you're very vulnerable to many units so it's not a perfect replacement.

What do you mean by that? The only units that are truly a hard counter to a stealth tank are infantry units which are strong against vehicles. There is not exactly an abundance of them: Lasers/Missiles, Grenadiers, Mutant Marauders. And that's it. I don't count Scarabs or MG squads here, since they are way too slow to actively fight against a stealth tank.

Personally, I think that the Stealth Tank is a bit too strong as it currently is. Especially against air units. It shoots down pretty much anything that flies within one second. Not cool.

I mean it in the sense that sometimes it's better to have a banshee/air. For example if they manage to roll out a titan, rock worm or avatar etc it's way more cost effective to use air units. They're also easier to micro into position to take out giga cannons, artillery and so forth where a stealth tank can easily be decloaked as it will tend to have to pass over a pad or near infantry.

I don't think they are too powerful considering their cost and reload speed. Compare it to an orca which costs 20 less tib less. It can't cloak like a tank  but then an orca is fast enough to move away and not targetable anyway by many of the things you want them for. If someone has two artillery you can kill both and fly away, but with stealth tanks you will always be losing one of them.

It's OP it insta-kills things more expensive (inferno 20+)

It's not OP it gets insta-killed by things less expensive (orca 20-)

  • While we are talking about the stealth tank: What unit(s) do you use to kill it?

Orca would seem like an idea, but obviously that's no use when you play Nod yourself.

As a warfac opener I simply roll out scorpion, more scorpions. Stealth is a fake tank who has hp of a pitbull and ashamed when facing real tanks.

Laser troopers don't do anything if (often) there is a chembuggy/flametroops around.

Use anything you have to kill it, just bait it to fire on infantry first and it's defenseless for a very long time. Missile/laser squads are good but take a long time to kill it so it's unlikely to be effective but infantry and a war factory unit will work well. I find them easier to deal with than orcas.
