Re: tiberian sun menu don't work in game win 10

@Veko65

I believe three things can be responsible for this... one is DirectDraw incompatibility, another is the game's resolution, and finally there's Windows' automatic display scaling.

  • DirectDraw incompatibility: The graphics system patch DDWrapper is known to solve graphics issue for many people. Download the zip file and extract "ddraw.dll" and "aqrit.cfg" into your game folder. Then, open the configuration file "aqrit.cfg" in Notepad, change the "ForceDirectDrawEmulation" option to 1, save the file, and the game should work.
  • Game resolution: Open the game folder and find the configuration file "sun.ini" (it won't have the .ini part if you have file extensions disabled in Windows). Double-clicking it should open it in Notepad as text file. In there, find the "height" and "width" settings and play around with those. It is best to put them to something reasonably low (I wouldn't advise going over 1600x1200, since everything on your screen will just become too small) that is supported by your monitor. To see what is supported by your monitor, find the "screen resolution" settings in your control panel, and see what other resolutions are supported in the dropdown menu there.
  • Display scaling: Again, in the game folder, find the applications Sun(.exe) and Game(.exe), and open their properties. In the Compatibility tab, check the "disable display scaling on High DPI settings" option.

Note that the CnCNet online play system offers an installer for the cncnet client program which includes an automatic system to solve such problems, by tweaking all the aforementioned settings (though they use a different graphics system patch; one specifically designed for Tiberian Sun). It might be worth checking that out:

    It is weird that you even made it that far, normally the game doesn't work at all on win 10. Did you maybe install any patches or placed any custom files into your game folder? Do you use the ultimate collection or is it the freeware version?

    Try to install my patch from here: http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=3438.0

    After the installation go to settings and make sure the rendering is set to Default
