Red Alert 2 online play, Connecting to Westwood Online

I received the First Decade pack as a gift this week and installed the games fine on my month old Windows 8 desktop. I downloaded the shared internet components needed to play online also registered my game and a nickname/password on XWIS. Red Alert 2 plays perfectly well in the normal game, but when I go to Internet and Custom Match to play online, the game gets stuck on "Connecting to Westwood Online" and will not do anything from there.

I'm thinking the problem is internet permissions such as the windows that come up saying "block/allow" for new programs.  I haven't seen this in relation to the First Decade pack or RA2 and I'm not too familiar with Windows 8, so I'm not sure where I would change the settings to allow the program to go through.

Hopefully this has a simple solution. Help me out please. Thank you.

I keep getting the same issues with this game along with two of my friends... Have you found a solution yet? ;'( This is so depressing... I have Windows 7 not Windows 8..

@fural007Sorry, but please don't revive a 6 years old topic just to attract people to play with online. EA answers is not a forum for that; it was made to help people with game-problems 🙂

Edit: And please talk English next time as many of us can't read your language and are then dependent on Google Translate....
