Red Alert 3 - Multiplayer on Network?

At the main menu at the multiplayer button, there are 3 options: Skirmish, Online and Network. I was just wondering what the last one actually is. Can somebody please explain me what this last op...

    Network would usually refer to a LAN, a local area network. This is a bunch of computers physically wired together in the same room. It's how many of us old fogeys used to play multiplayer CnC in ye olde days before ubiquitous high-speed internet. 🙂

    So is this a way to actually play Multiplayer Offline by linking physically to another computer or laptop?

      I'd imagine that it's possible with a virtual LAN, but I have never tried this with RA3 so I can't confirm that it would work.
